Narrated by Ibn Umar (Radhiallaho anhuma):
I heard Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) saying, “When you see the crescent (of the month of Ramadan), start fasting, and when you see the crescent (of the month of Shawwal), stop fasting; and if the sky is overcast (and you can’t see it) then regard the month of Ramadan as of 30 days.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 124

Devils are chained in The month of Ramadan
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam)said, “When the month of Ramadan starts, the gates of the heaven are opened and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are chained.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 122

The virtues of Ramadan
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said “The blessed month has come to you. Allah has made fasting during it obligatory upon you. During it, the gates to Paradise are opened and the gates to hellfire are locked, and the devils are chained. There is a night [during this month] which is better than a thousand months. Whoever is deprived of its good is really deprived [of
something great].”
This is related by Ahmad, an-Nasa’i, and al-Baihaqi.

Gates of Paradise for women
Narrated by Anas ibn Malik (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “When a woman observes the five times of prayer, fasts during Ramadan, preserves her chastity and obeys her husband, she may enter by any of the gates of Paradise she wishes.”
(Al-Tirmidhi 956, Abu Nu’aym transmitted it in al-Hilyah)

The virtues of Ramadan
Narrated by Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said “Whoever fasts the month of Ramadan, obeying all of its limitations and guarding himself against what is forbidden, has in fact atoned for any sins he committed before it.”
Ahmad and alBaihaqi related this hadith with a good chain.

The virtues of Fasting
Narrated by Abdullah ibn ‘Amr (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said “The fast and the Qur’an are two intercessors for the servant of Allah on the Day of Resurrection. The fast will say: ‘O Lord, I prevented him from his food and desires during the day. Let me intercede for him.’ The Qur’an will say: ‘I prevented him from sleeping at night. Let me intercede for him.’ And their intercession will be accepted.”
Ahmad related this hadith with a sahih chain.

Ar-Raiyan, one of the gates of paradise
Narrated by Sahl (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam)said, “There is a gate in Paradise called Ar-Raiyan, and those who observe fasts will enter through it on the Day of Resurrection and none except them will enter through it. It will be said, ‘Where are those who used to observe fasts?’ They will get up, and none except them will enter through it. After their entry the gate will be closed and nobody will enter through it.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 120

The superiority of observing fasting
Narrated by Abu Hurairah (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam)said, “Fasting is a shield (or a screen or a shelter). So, the person observing fasting should avoid sexual relation with his wife and should not behave foolishly and impudently, and if somebody fights with him or abuses him, he should tell him twice, ‘I am fasting.” The Prophet added, “By Him in Whose Hands my soul is, the smell coming out from the mouth of a fasting person is better in the sight of Allah than the smell of musk. (Allah says about the fasting person), ‘He has left hisfood, drink and desires for My sake. The fast is for Me. So I will reward (the fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten times.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 118

Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam), said, “On every Muslim there is enjoined (a compulsory) Sadaqa (alms).” They (the people) said, “If one has nothing?” He said, “He should work with his hands so that he may benefit himself and give in charity.” They said, “If he cannot work or does not work?” He said, “Then he should help the oppressed unhappy person (by word or action or both).” They said, “If he does not do it?” He said, “Then he should enjoin what is good (or said what is reasonable).” They said, “If he does not do that?” He said, “Then he should refrain from doing evil, for that will be considered for Him as a Sadaqa (charity).”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 8 : No. 51

Do not hate one another

Narrated by Anas bin Malik(Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam),said, “Do not hate one another, and do not be jealous of one another, and do not desert each other, and O, Allah’s worshipers! Be brothers. Lo! It is not permissible for any Muslim to desert (not talk to) his brother (Muslim) for more than three days.”

Hajj is Obligatory Only Once in Life
Narrated by Abu Hurairah(Radhiallah o anho):
once, in a sermon, Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said: “O people! Allah has prescribed Hajj for you, so you must perform it.” A man asked: “Every year, O Prophet of Allah?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) remained silent. When the man repeated it thrice, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Had I said ‘yes’, it would have become a yearly obligation, and this would have been beyond your power.” Then he added: “Leave me alone so long as I leave you alone (i.e., do not pester me with questions about things which I omit and do not mention). Some people who lived before you were destroyed because they asked too many questions and disagreed with their Prophets. So when I command you to do something, you must obey and do it to the best of your power, and if I forbid you from something, then avoid it.” (Bukhari and Muslim)

Hajj – Allah sets free more servants from Hell on the Day of Arafah
Narrated by Aisha(Radhiallaho anha):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, There is no day when God sets free more servants from Hell than the Day of Arafah. He draws near, then praises them to the angels, saying: What do these want?
Sahih Muslim No.650

Hajj – The Sermon on the Day of Nahr
Narrated by Abu Bakra (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, “Do you know what is the day today?” We said, “Allah and His Apostle know better.” He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He
said, “Isn’t it the Day of Nahr?” We said, “It is.” He further asked,”Which month is this?” We said, “Allah and His Apostle know better.” He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, “Isn’t it the month of Dhul-Hijja?” We replied: “Yes! It is.” He further asked, “What town is this?” We replied, “Allah and His Apostle know it better.” He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, “Isn’t it the forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?” We said, “Yes. It is.” He said, “No doubt, your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of
yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven’t I conveyed Allah’s message to you? They said, “Yes.” He said, “O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another.”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol.2 : No. 797

Hajj – Excellence of Talbiyah
Narrated by Jabir(Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whosoever makes intention to perform Hajj and pronounces talbiyah all day until sunset, Allah the Almighty will forgive his sins, and he will be free of sin as he was the day his mother gave birth to him.” (Ibn Majah)

Hajj – One of the Best Deeds
Narrated by Abu Hurairah(Radhiallah o anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) was once asked: “What is the best deed?” He replied: “To have faith in Allah and His Messenger.” The enquirer asked: “What next?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “To strive in the cause of Allah.” “What is the next best thing?” He replied: “Hajj Mabrur (a faultless Hajj that is free of sin and is graced with Divine acceptance and pleasure).”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol.2 : No. 594

Hajj – Pilgrims are Allah’s Guests
Narrated by Abu Hurairah(Radhiallah o anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Pilgrims and those performing ‘Umrah are Allah’s guests; their prayers are answered and their supplications for forgiveness are granted. This is reported by Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, Ibn Khuzaimah and Ibn Hibban in their collections of Sahih hadith. In the last two we read: “And Allah’s guests are three: A pilgrim performing Hajj, one performing ‘Umrah, and a person who fights in the cause of Allah.”

Hajj – Miqat of Hajj
Narrated by Ibn Abbas (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) made Dhul-Huiaifa as the Miqat for the people of Medina; Al-Juhfa for the people of Sham; Qarn-al-Manazil for the people of Najd; and Yalamlam for the people of Yemen; and these Mawaqit are for the people at those very places, and besides them for those who come thorough those places with the intention of performing Hajj and ‘Umra; and whoever is living within these boundaries can assume Ihram from the place he starts, and the
people of Mecca can assume Ihram from Mecca.
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 2: No. 599

Hajj – The Superiority of Al-Hajj-ul-Mabrur
Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.”
