Blessed be the moment of Prophet’s birth;
When unsurpassed glory spread over the earth!!
All praise is to Allah, the Lord of The Creation, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, Owner of the Day of Recompense, Who blessed us with being the Ummah of His Beloved Rasool SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, Who sanctified our hearts with the Love and Affection towards His Beloved Rasool SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam, Who blessed us the with the most precious treasure of Iman (Faith). Countless Salutations, Peace, and Blessings be upon the Cream of the Creation… Mercy for all Worlds… Seal of the Prophets Sayyiduna wa Mawlana MuHammadur Rasoolullah Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam, His Blessed Parents, His entire Family, His Progeny, His Companions, and His Followers!!
AlHamduLILLAH Thumma AlHamduLILLAH!! We are again blessed with the arrival and celebration of this Blessed Month of Rabi al-Noor. May ALLAH SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala bless us all with the blessings of this holy month and give us an opportunity to explore and enjoy the blessings of this holy month in Madina al-Munawwarah, the city of HIS Habeeb al-Kareem Alaihi afDalus Salati wa al-Tasleem… Aameen!!
Today, it is a tragedy that we do not derive lessons and benefits from the teachings of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam as his faithful followers ought to do. The real and true method of celebrating the birth of the Beloved Habeeb SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam is by intensely concentrating on his actions and trying to benefit as much as possible from his words. We should also try to imitate the Noble Companions Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhum Ajma’een – the model disciples and followers, in our homes and outside, in businesses and private and social gatherings.
We should celebrate the birth of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam with the same glow and serene devotion as that of the Companions of the Holy Prophet Radi Allahu Ta’ala Anhum Ajma’een and the early Muslims. We profess love for Sayyiduna Rasoolullah SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam and express it by celebrating his birthday. However, our lives and outlook should bear remembrance in the true sense of the word. Now that we have the tremendous advantage of acquiring and spreading knowledge, there is no excuse on our part for not following the life and teachings of the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Aalihi wa Sallam to reinforce and fasten our covenant with Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala.
Let us make ourselves ready to welcome the Blessed Month of Rabi’ al-Awwal Sharif with some special gifts and pleasant changes in ourselves. There are plenty of things we can do, e.g.
1. We can try to recite the Holy Quran al-Kareem at least once a day. Let it be One Ayah, One Ruku’, One Chapter, or as much as we can.
2. We must try our level best to offer all five (5) obligatory prayers at their particular timings and not leave Jama’ah (Congregation), especially the FAJR Prayer.
3. Try observing a voluntary (nafl) fast on Monday for thankfulness because the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam himself fasted on this day.
4. My brothers who shave the blessed Sunnah of Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) i.e. the beard, can put their effort to beautify their faces with the beard. Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar Radi ALLAHu Ta’ala Anhu reported that the Messenger of Allah has said, “Do the opposite of what the polytheists do; let the beard grow long and clip the mustache.” A version has, “trim the mustache down and leave the beard.”
5. My sisters who do not observe a proper Veil (Hijab) can protect themselves by observing the proper veil (Hijab), as it’s also necessary for a Muslim woman. In Surah 33, Verse 59, Almighty Allah says: “O Prophet! Enjoin upon your wives, your daughters, and women believers to draw their clothes around them. That is more proper, so that they may be recognized and not be molested.” A newly converted Muslim woman when observed Hijab for the first time, said, “It feels more protected than having huge security of armed forces” – wa alHamduLILLAH
6. Let us delete all movies and songs saved in our PCs, laptops, iPods, cell phones, or any other device and move the CDs, DVDs, and cassettes to the trash bin. It is stated in Bayhaqi’s Shu’ab al-Iman and Kanz al-‘Ummal that Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) said, “Songs (Music) cultivate Nifaq (evil) in the minds similar to water growing the crop”
7. We can make an attempt to feed the poor and destitute according to our own ability.
8. We can try making arrangements for clothes or other requirements of someone in need or of a widow.
9. We can make an effort and make arrangements for the fees and books of a poor or orphan child.
10. Try making arrangements for the medicines of a needy patient or at least helping his family with clothing and other requirements.
11. If a person in need has taken a loan from us, we should either pardon the entire loan or a part of it based on our own ability, just for the sake of Allah SubHanuhu wa Ta’ala and the blessed birth of the Holy Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam. Also, the person can be given some more time to return the loan.
12. Try meeting relatives, friends, and neighbors and presenting them with authentic books on the biography of the Holy Prophet SallAllaho Alaihi wa Sallam, admonishing them to be steadfast on the teachings of Islam and making them pay attention towards Salah, Sawm, and other Islamic duties.
13. Those having a habit or I must say disease of swearing and using abusive slang language in their conversations must leave this act as it is detested by Almighty Allah and is taken as an unethical act even by the general public.
14. Another Beautiful Sunnah Mubarak of our Beloved Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him is to wear the blessed Turban. Wearing a turban is the tradition of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah (SallAllahu Alaihi wa Sallam), especially during the prayers. The prayer that is performed wearing a turban carries more reward and according to another narration, the prayer performed wearing a turban carries 70 times reward than that of without the Turban.
15. Recite as much as Durood Sharif as we can. Apart from the virtues and blessings of reciting Durood Sharif described in Ahadith, this will also help us avoid unnecessary and unwanted talks and gossips, and reward for avoiding useless conversation will be achieved as a bonus in sha Allah!!
16. We must try and make a paramount effort towards lighting up our homes and surrounding areas and making the pathways clean.
17. We must keep our parents pleased and contented with ourselves at the extreme. We have to make sure that we don’t give them a single chance to complain about any of our action that can possibly hurt them.
18. We must try transforming our internal conflicts into love and making a covenant to live and work together and that none amongst us will ever create conflicts.
19. We have to respect our elders especially our parents, grandparents, and teachers. Also, we should be kind, affectionate, and loving towards our younger and give them sweets, toffees and other small gifts that please them.
20. Last but not least, we must read and share the narrations of celebrating the blessed birth of the Beloved Prophet Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him from the authentic books of our prominent Ahl as-Sunnah Scholars in sha ALLAH!!
To conclude,
If we ascetically act upon all the above-said advice or even a few of them, I am pretty sure that we would become eligible to be called a practical and true Muslim. May Allah give us the tawfeeq, increase our strength, and keep us firm upon whatever good we intend to do.
Let us offer such special gifts in the August Court of the Master of the Mankind, King of the Creation of Allah Almighty, Our Master, Our Beloved Prophet MuHammad Sallallaho Alaihi wa Sallam on his Birthday. May ALLAH Azza wa Jall and His Beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings of Allah be Upon Him) accept our humble presents… Aameen!!
JazakALLAHu Khariah aHsan al-Jaza fid Daarain in anticipation and the Blessed Month of Rabi’ al-Noor Mubarak to everyone once again!!

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was an extraordinary husband, a perfect father, and a unique grandfather. He was unique in every way. He treated his children and grandchildren with great compassion and never neglected to direct them to the straight path and to good deeds. He loved them and treated them tenderly, but did not allow them to neglect matters related to the afterlife. He showed them how to lead a humane life and never allowed them to neglect their religious duties or to become spoiled.
His ultimate goal was to prepare them for the Hereafter. His perfect balance in such matters is another dimension of his divinely-inspired intellect.
Anas Ibn Malik, the Messenger’s helper for 10 years, says, “I have never seen a man who was more compassionate to his family members than Muhammad (peace be upon him).” (Muslim)
Muhammad (peace be upon him) was a human-like us, but Allah inspired in him such an intimate affection for every living thing that he could establish a connection with all of them. As a result, he was full of extraordinary affection toward his family members and others.
All of the Prophet’s sons died. Ibrahim, his last son, died in infancy. The Prophet (peace be upon him) often visited his son before the latter’s death, although he was very busy. Ibrahim was looked after by a nurse. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would kiss and play with him before returning home. (Muslim)
When Ibrahim took his last breaths, the eyes of the Prophet (peace be upon him) started shedding tears. Abdur-Rahman Ibn Awf said, “O Allah’s Messenger, even you (weep)!” The Prophet said, “O Ibn Auf, this is mercy.” Then he wept more and said, “The eyes shed tears and the heart grieves, and we will not say except what pleases our Lord, O Ibrahim! Indeed we are grieved by your separation.” (Al-Bukhari)
The Messenger (peace be upon him) was completely balanced in the way he brought up his children. He loved his children and grandchildren very much, and instilled love in them. However, he never let his love for them be abused. None of them deliberately dared to do anything wrong. If they made an unintentional mistake, the Messenger’s protection prevented them from going even slightly astray. He did this by wrapping them in love and an aura of dignity. For example, once Hasan or Hussain wanted to eat a date meant for distribution among the poor as alms. The Messenger immediately took it from his hand, and said: “Anything given as alms is forbidden to us.” (Ibn Hanbal, Muslim)
In teaching them while they were young to be sensitive to forbidden acts, the Prophet (peace be upon him) established an important principle of education.
Whenever he returned to Madina, he would carry children on his mount. On such occasions, the Messenger (peace be upon him) embraced not only his grandchildren but also those in his house and those nearby. He conquered their hearts through his compassion. He loved all children.
He loved his granddaughter Umamah. He often went out with her on his shoulders, and even placed her on his shoulders while praying. When he prostrated, he put her down; when he had finished praying, he placed her on his back again. (Muslim)
The Prophet (peace be upon him) showed this degree of love to Umamah to teach his male followers how to treat girls. This was a vital necessity; only a decade earlier, it had been the social norm to bury infant or young girls alive. Such public paternal affection for a granddaughter had never been seen before in Arabia.
The Messenger (peace be upon him) proclaimed that Islam allows no discrimination between son and daughter. How could there be? One is Muhammad, the other is Khadijah; one is Adam, the other is Eve; one is Ali, the other is Fatima. For every great man there is a great woman.
As soon as Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger, entered the room where the Messenger was, he would stand, take her hands, and make her sit where he was sitting. He would ask about her health and family, show his paternal love for her, and compliment her.
Fatimah, knowing how fond he was of her, loved him more than her ownself. She always watched her father and how he called people to Islam. She wept and groaned when the Messenger told her that he would die soon, and rejoiced when he told her that she would be the first family member to follow him. (Al-Bukhari and Muslim)
Her father loved her, and she loved her father
[25:63] And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, “Peace!”;
[25:64] Those who spend the night in adoration of their Lord prostrate and standing;
[25:65] Those who say, “Our Lord! avert from us the Wrath of Hell, for its Wrath is indeed an affliction grievous,-
[25:66] “Evil indeed is it as an abode, and as a place to rest in”;
[25:67] Those who, when they spend, are not extravagant and not niggardly, but hold a just (balance) between those (extremes);
[25:68] Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; – and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.
[25:69] (But) the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy,-
[25:70] Unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful,
[25:71] And whoever repents and does good has truly turned to Allah with an (acceptable) conversion;-
[25:72] Those who witness no falsehood, and, if they pass by futility, they pass by it with honorable (avoidance);
[25:73] Those who, when they are admonished with the Signs of their Lord, droop not down at them as if they were deaf or blind;
[25:74] And those who pray, “Our Lord! Grant unto us wives and offspring who will be the comfort of our eyes, and give us (the grace) to lead the righteous.”
[25:75] Those are the ones who will be rewarded with the highest place in heaven, because of their patient constancy: therein shall they be met with salutations and peace,
[25:76] Dwelling therein;- how beautiful an abode and place of rest!
(Al-Quran)
May Allah guide us to follow His instructions truly. Aameen
From among the beautiful Surahs of the Holy Qur’an, there is one Surah that I would like to talk about today. This Surah happens to be the cure (Shifa) or treatment (Al-Ruqya) for any disease. I hope by now the readers must have guessed which Surah I am talking about. Indeed, this Surah is the one with which the Holy Qur’an begins and so does our Salah. It is none other than the great Surah, Surah Al Fatiha (the opening).
Surah Al Fatiha is also called as the Qur’an-e-Azeem (Bukhari). In a Hadith narrated by Tirmidhi, Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) said, “Al-Hamdulillah is the Umm ul Qur’an (mother of the Holy Qur’an) and Saba’atul Mathani (the seven repeated verses).
Surah Al-Fatiha begins with the ‘hamd’ of Allah, i.e. His Praise. None but Allah has the right to be praised for He alone is the Lord of the worlds. It is He Who sustains and provides His creations and believers with innumerable blessings. He Alone is the Rabb, the Rahman, and the Raheem. Allah Alone is the Lord of the Day of Judgment and no one except Him has the power and sovereignty, and none would have the courage to open his mouth before Him. No injustice would be done on that day.
After the declaration of Allah’s praise verse number five places a duty on everyone — His creation to worship Him alone and turn only to him for help. This verse commands every worshipper to stay away from Shirk and dedicate his or her acts of worship like Salah, Dua, Sawm, Haj, etc. for Allah alone. Furthermore, it tells us to seek guidance and help only from Him. The sixth verse is then a dua where a believer asks for guidance because it is only Allah who guides us in the best way by telling us the difference between right and wrong.
The seventh verse specifies that the guidance should be sought from those who are blessed like the Noble Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), righteous people, Shuhada (martyrs), and the pious servants of Allah and not from those who were misguided and had to face His wrath.
Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) was sitting with Angel Jibreel he heard a creaking sound above him. Angel Jibreel looked up and said, “This is the sound of a gate that has been opened in heaven today that has never been previously opened.” Then an angel descended and came toward Prophet Muhammed (peace be upon him) and said, “Rejoice our the good news of two lights that have been given to you as no Prophet before you have been given. They are Surah Al Fatiha and the concluding two verses of Surah Al Baqarah. You will never recite a word from them without being given the blessings they contain.” [Sahih Muslim]
There are many Ahadeeth that describe the virtues of Surah Al Fatihah. It is indeed a Surah full of blessings and its recitation brings peace and security to its readers. May Allah give us ‘Tawfiq’ (opportunities) to recite it in every Rakah of our Salah and in our daily life so that we can receive maximum blessings.

Disclaimer: This article deals with the actual laws of Islam, showing that Islam is a simple religion and not burdensome. This does not mean that life will be easy for a practicing Muslim as Allah has promised to test each and every one of us. So keep in mind that although Islam is easy to practice if you commit yourself, your level of commitment will be tested by Allah.
There is a misunderstanding among many people that Islam is difficult and a burden to follow. Such people either have an incorrect understanding of Islam or do not realize how easy the rules of Islam are to follow. Let us look at the basic teachings of Islam and see how simple, natural, and easy it is to practice Islam.
The scholars of Islam have agreed that the general principle regarding things of this world is that everything is permissible unless proven otherwise. So the burden of proof actually falls on those who say that anything is prohibited. This applies to all worldly things. As for religious deeds, the deed must be proven or it will be considered an innovation.
Proof for this principle can be found in the following verses, “Allah wishes to make things easy for you, and not to make things difficult for you,” (Qur’an, 2:185) and “We did not place difficulty in this religion.” (Qur’an, 22:78)
The following Hadith is also proof of this principle: “Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but aim to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded, and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings and the nights.” (Al-Bukhari, 1/2, no.38) In fact, Imam Bukhari has a chapter in his Sahih called “The chapter of the religion being easy” and ample proof for this point can be found there.
Firstly, the fact that everything worldly is permissible unless prohibited by sacred texts or deduction from them is proof that the number of things that are permissible to do is far more than the obligations or prohibitions. Islam is not an ascetic religion that expects people to abandon the world and meditate all day in a cave. In fact, Islam prohibits such behavior and encourages us to interact with society and live normal lives within the boundaries set by Allah, fulfilling our rights to Allah, to ourselves, and to the rest of creation.
Islam has given rights to all creation. We are not to harm any human, animal, plant, or even ourselves unjustly. We must stay away from all sources of vice and whatever leads to them and we must fulfill our basic obligations. We can enjoy the permissible things of this world like spending time with the family, spousal relations, physical sports, or whatever we enjoy doing as long as we do not break the rules of Islam.
Islam is a natural religion. It appeals to our inner nature (Fitrah) and fulfills its basic needs without asking us to do anything unnatural. Not one ruling in the Qur’an and Sunnah goes against human nature.
Islam does not ask us to do anything that we are incapable of doing. We are not required to give up our personalities, social lives, or money. We are not required to pray all night or fast every day. In fact, such things are prohibited. Islam emphasizes that we live a balanced life fulfilling our obligations to Allah as well as our obligations towards people and even our own selves. Try and find one command or prohibition in Islam that is beyond human ability. There is no such ruling.
One reason many people find Islam difficult to practice is because Satan beautifies evil deeds and makes good deeds look boring and difficult. Thus we become lazy. Yet if one overcomes this obstacle he will find that the deeds emphasized by Islam bring true inner peace and are not difficult. He will begin to see the evils and wastage involved in committing sins. Take that first step and see for yourself.
Islam obliges us to worship Allah only, pray five times a day, fast one month a year, give the two-and-a-half percent of our excess wealth in charity, make Haj once in our lifetime if possible, and in general to be good to the rest of creation, stay away from the prohibited matters and have a good character. None of these things are beyond the human capability or unnatural. There is nothing prohibited that is necessary for our lives. Only that which is harmful to human life is prohibited.
Another important point to remember is that Allah is Ar-Rahman (Most Merciful) and Al-Ghafoor (Most Forgiving) which means that if we try our best to practice Islam, and still fall into error due to our human nature and own weakness, the door to Allah’s forgiveness is always open for those who repent.
The basics of Islam are simple to understand and practical to implement, making Islam a universal religion that can be practiced by anyone regardless of his or her intellectual or physical capabilities. It is this pure simplicity of Islam that makes it so universally appealing and it is one of the many reasons that so many people around the world from different backgrounds convert to Islam.
