Patience With Trials And Tribulations In Islam
Muslims will endure many trials throughout their lives. Allah tests us with hardship and prosperity in order to validate the sincerity of our faith.
Allah said: It is He who created death and life to test which of you are best in deed, for He is the Almighty, the Forgiving. (Surat al-Mulk 67:2)
In all cases, trials can be good for the true believer. If he is tested with prosperity, he should remain grateful and he will receive a reward. If he is tested with hardship, he should remain patient and he will receive a reward.
Suhaib -may Allah be pleased with him- reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Wondrous is the affair of the believer for there is good for him in every matter and this is not the case with anyone except the believer. If he is happy, then he thanks Allah and thus there is good for him. If he is harmed, then he shows patience and thus there is good for him. (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 2999, Grade:Sahih)
Trials can be a sign that Allah intends good for us because through trials our sins are expiated and we have the opportunity to perform good deeds.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Allah intends good for someone, then he afflicts him with trials. (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 5321, Grade: Sahih)
Mahmud ibn Labeed (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Allah loves a people, then he afflicts them with trials. Whoever is patient has the reward of patience, and whoever is impatient has the fault of impatience.(Musnad Aḥmad 23122, Grade: Sahih)
Mus’ad ibn Sa’eed (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The servant will continue to be tried until he is left walking upon the earth without any sin.(Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2398, Grade: Sahih)
Anas ibn Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: If Allah intends good for his servant, then he hastens the punishment for him in this world. If Allah intends evil for his servant, then he withholds punishment for his sins until he appears on the Day of Resurrection.
In another narration, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, with greater rewards come greater trials. Verily, when Allah loves a people he will test them. Whoever is pleased will be satisfied, and whoever is displeased will have indignation.(Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2396, Grade: Hasan)
Despite the incidental blessings that might come about from trials, a Muslim should never wish to be put on trial because he does not know if he will succeed.
Miqdad ibn Al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, the blessed person is one kept away from trials. Verily, the blessed person is one kept away from trials. Verily, the blessed person is one kept away from trials. How good is one who is afflicted but bears it patiently!(Sunan Abī Dāwūd 4263, Grade: Sahih)
Instead, Muslims should supplicate to Allah for security and well-being.
Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: You will not be given anything after sincere faith as good as security, so ask Allah for security.(Musnad Aḥmad 11, Grade: Sahih)
Likewise, a Muslim should never rush into trials whether among the Muslims or the non-Muslims.
Allah said: Our Lord, make us not a trial for the unbelievers and forgive us, our Lord. Verily, You are the Almighty, the Wise.(Surah al-Mumtahanah 60:5)
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: There will be tribulations during which a sitting person will be better than the one standing, and the one standing will be better than the one walking, and the one walking will be better than the one running, and whoever exposes himself to these tribulations will be destroyed, so whoever finds a place of protection or refuge should take shelter in it. (Ṣaḥiiḥ al-Bukharii 6670, Grade: Sahih)
One of the greatest trials a Muslim might endure is the death of a loved one such as a spouse, a parent, or a child. If he remains patient and praises Allah in such a situation, then Allah has guaranteed a house for him in Paradise.
Abu Musa Al-Ashari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: When the child of a servant dies, Allah says to the angels: Have you taken the life of my servant’s child? They say yes. Allah says: Have you taken the fruit of his heart? They say yes. Allah says: What has my servant said? They say: He has praised you and said to Allah we belong and to Allah we return. Allah says: Build a house for my servant in Paradise and name it the House of Praise.(Sunan al-Tirmidhī 1021, Grade: Hasan)
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah the Exalted says: I have nothing to give to my faithful servant if I cause his dear friend to die and he remains patient, other than Paradise. (Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukharii 6060, Grade: Sahih)
The trials of pain and loss are very difficult, but in some ways, the trials of prosperity are even more difficult.
Abdur Rahman ibn Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were tested with hardship alongside the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and we were patient. Then we were tested with prosperity after that and we were not patient.(Sunan al-Tirmidhi 2464, Grade: Hasan)
An abundance of wealth is one of the greatest trials for the Muslim nation because in such a situation the Muslims are obligated to spend generously from it in charity.
Ka’b ibn Iyad (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily, every nation has a trial and the trial of my nation is wealth.(Sunan al-Tirmidhī 2336, Grade: Sahih)
Muslims are tested with great acts of oppression committed by authorities and powerful groups in the world, but we must remember that Allah has promised us that those who oppress us will give us their good deeds on the Day of Resurrection or take some of our sins.
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever oppresses his brother in his honor or anything else should resolve the matter today before it cannot be resolved with gold and silver coins. If he has good deeds to his credit, they will be taken from him according to the measure of his oppression, but if he has no good deeds left, then he will bear the evil deeds of his companion. (Ṣaḥī-iḥ al-Bukharii 2317, Grade: Sahih)
In such a situation, we must remember that Allah will avenge us in the Hereafter so we should not let our hatred or anger at our oppression lead us to commit further acts of injustice.
Allah said: O you who believe, be persistently standing firm for Allah as witnesses in justice and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just, for that is nearer to righteousness. Fear Allah, for Allah is aware of what you are doing. (Surat al-Ma’idah 5:8)
One of the greatest trials is the temptation to resort to violence when confronted with an unjust government, but in such a situation we must be patient and attempt to reform the government without declaring a violent rebellion.
Hudhayfa ibn al-Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Rulers after me will come who do not follow my guidance and my tradition. Some of their men will have the hearts of devils in the human body. I said, “O Messenger of Allah, what should I do if I live to see that time?” The Prophet said: You should listen and obey them even if the ruler strikes your back and takes your wealth, even still hear and obey. (Ṣaḥiiḥ Muslim 1847, Grade: Sahih)
The righteous predecessors (al-salaf) decried the violent rebels who lived in their time because their rebellion always led to further suffering, injustice, and division among the Muslims.
Hasan Al-Basri -may Allah be pleased with him- said: If the people had patience when they are being tested by their unjust ruler, it will not be long before Allah will give them a way out. However, they always rush to their swords, so they are left with their swords. By Allah, not even for a single day did they bring about any good.(Source: al-Ṭabaqat al-Kubra 8789)
Therefore, Muslims will endure many trials throughout life such as being afflicted by a calamity, suffering oppression, or even ingratitude in the face of prosperity. A Muslim must remain patient with the command and decree of Allah so as to avoid injustice, selfishness, and various evil deeds that might come about during a trial.
We ask Allah to relieve the suffering of Muslims and to guide us through the trials of life and death.

Anyone Who Saved A Life; Saved The Mankind
[17.Surah Al-Israa: Ayah 9] “Surely this Quran guides to that which is most upright and gives good news to the believers who do good that they shall have a great reward.”
[5.Surah Al-Maidah: Ayahs 27] “And relate to them the story of the two sons of Adam with truth when they both offered an offering, but it was accepted from one of them and was not accepted from the other. He said: I will most certainly slay you. (The other) said: Allah only accepts from those who guard (against evil).”
[5.Surah Al-Maidah: Ayahs 28-29] “If you will stretch forth your hand towards me to slay me, I am not one to stretch forth my hand towards you to slay you surely I fear Allah, the Lord of the worlds. Surely I wish that you should bear the sin committed against me and your own sin, and so you would be of the inmates of the fire, and this is the recompense of the unjust.”
[5.Surah Al-Maidah: Ayahs 30-31] “Then his mind facilitated to him the slaying of his brother so he slew him; then he became one of the losers. Then Allah sent a crow digging up the earth so that he might show him how he should cover the dead body of his brother. He said: Woe me! do I lack the strength that I should be like this crow and cover the dead body of my brother earth? So he became of those who regret.”
[5.Surah Al-Maidah: Ayahs 32] “For this reason did We prescribe to the children of Israel that whoever slays a soul, unless it be for manslaughter or for mischief in the land, it is as though he slew all men; and whoever keeps it alive, it is as though he kept alive all men, and certainly Our apostles came to them with clear arguments, but even after that many of them certainly act extravagantly in the land.”

12 Ways To Erase Sins
Following is a compilation of Ahadith that speaks of ways in which we can erase our sins, InshaAllah!
1. Repenting
O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I would forgive you. O son of Adam, were you to come to Me with sins nearly as great as the earth and were you then to face Me, ascribing no partner to Me, I would bring you forgiveness nearly as great at it. [Hadith Qudsi]
Abu Bakr radhiAllahu anhu reported: “I heard the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saying: ‘Allah forgives the man who commits a sin (then feels ashamed), purifies himself, offers a prayer and seeks His forgiveness.’ Then he recited the ‘ayyah: ‘And those who, when they do an evil thing or wrong themselves, remember Allah and implore forgiveness for their sins – and who can forgive sins except Allah? – and will not knowingly repeat (the wrong) they did. The reward of such will be forgiveness from their Lord, and gardens underneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever- a bountiful reward for workers.”‘ [al-‘lmran: 135-136]. [Abu Dawud, an-Nasa’i, Ibn Majah, al-Baihaqi, and at-Tirmidhi who calls it hasan.]
2. Performing Wudhu
Narrated Abû Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: When a bondsman – a Muslim or a believer – washes his face (in course of ablution), every sin he contemplated with his eyes will be washed away from his face along with water, or with the last drop of water; when he washes his hands, every sin they wrought will be effaced from his hands with the water, or with the last drop of water; and when he washes his feet, every sin towards which his feet have walked will be washed away with the water, or with the last drop of water, with the result that he comes out pure from all sins. [Sahih Muslim]
Narrated Uthman ibn AffanradhiAllahu anhu: The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: He who performed ablution well, his sins would come out from his body, even coming out from under his nails. [Sahîh Muslim]
3. Performing Prayer
Narrated Uthman ibn Affan radhiAllahu anhu: “I heard Allah’s Apostle sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam say: When the time for a prescribed prayer comes if any Muslim performs ablution well and offers his prayer) with humility and bowing, it will be an expiation for his past sins, so long as he has not committed a major sin; and this applies to all times. [Sahîh Muslim]
Narrated Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu: “The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: He who purified himself in his house, and then he walked to one of the houses of Allah for the sake of performing fard (obligatory act) out of the Fara’id (obligatory acts) of Allah, both his steps (would be significant) as one of them would obliterate his sin and the second one would raise his status. [Sahih Muslim]
4. Attending the Jumu’ah Salah
Narrated Abû Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu: The Messenger of Allah sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: Five prayers and from one Friday prayer to (the next) Friday prayer is an expiation (of the sins committed in between their intervals) if major sins are not committed. [Sahih Muslim]
Narrated by Salman Al Farsi radhiAllahu anhu: The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the mosque), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
5. Doing good deeds
Narrated Ibn Masud radhiAllahu anhu: A man kissed a woman and then came to Allah’s Apostle and told him of that, so this Divine Inspiration was revealed to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam: “And offer Prayers perfectly at the two ends of the day, and in some hours of the night; (i.e. (five) compulsory prayers). Verily, the good deeds remove the evil deeds (small sins). That is a reminder for the mindful.” (Qur’an: 11.114) The man said, Is this instruction for me only?” The Prophet said, “It is for all those of my followers who encounter a similar situation.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
6. Performing Umrah and Hajj
Narrated by Abû Huraira: The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever performs Hajj for Allah’s pleasure and does not have sexual relations with his wife, and does not do evil or sins then he will return (after Hajj free from all sins) as if he were born anew.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud radhiAllahu anhu narrated that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Alternate between Hajj and ‘Umrah (regularly), for these two remove poverty and sins just as the blacksmith’s bellows removes all impurities from metals like iron, gold, and silver. The reward for Hajj Mabrur is nothing short of Paradise.” [Nasa’i and Tirmidhi, who regard it a sound hadith ]
Narrated Abû Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “(The performance of) ‘Umra is an expiation for the sins committed (between it and the previous one). And the reward of Hajj Mabrur (the one accepted by Allah) is nothing except Paradise.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
7. Saying ‘Aamin’
Narrated by Abu Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “When the Imam says ‘Aamin’, then you should all say ‘Aamin’, for the angels say ‘آmin’ at that time, and he whose ‘Aamin’ coincides with the ‘Aamin’ of the angels, all his past sins will be forgiven.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
8. Fasting and performing prayers on the night of Qadr in Ramadan
Narrated by Abû Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: The Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever fasted the month of Ramadan out of sincere Faith (i.e. belief) and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his past sins will be forgiven, and whoever stood for the prayers in the night of Qadr out of sincere Faith and hoping for a reward from Allah, then all his previous sins will be forgiven .” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
9. Sending salutations
Abû Talha Al Ansari radhi Allahu anhu said, “The Prophet, Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, woke up one day cheerful and beaming. His companions exclaimed, ‘O Prophet of Allah, you woke up today cheerful and beaming.’ He replied,
‘Yes! A messenger of Allah, the Mighty, and the Glorified, came to me and said, “If anyone from your ummah sends you a salutation, Allah will record for him ten good deeds, wipe off ten of his sins, and raise him thereby ten degrees in rank, and He will return his salutation with a similar salutation”.’ [Ahmad] Ibn Kathir considers this a sound hadith]
10. Being kind to animals
Narrated Abu Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “While a man was walking he felt thirsty and went down a well and drank water from it. On coming out of it, he saw a dog panting and eating mud because of excessive thirst. The man said, ‘This (dog) is suffering from the same problem as that of mine. So he (went down the well), filled his shoe with water, caught hold of it with his teeth, and climbed up and watered the dog. Allah thanked him for his (good) deed and forgave him.” The people asked, “O Allah’s Apostle! Is there a reward for us in serving (the) animals?” He replied, “Yes, there is a reward for serving any animate.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Narrated Abu Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
11. Leaving grey hair
Amr ibn Shu’aib related on the authority of his father from his grandfather that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Do not pluck the grey hairs as they are a Muslim’s light. Never a Muslim grows grey in Islam except that Allah writes for him, due to that, a good deed. And he raises him a degree. And he erases for him, due to that, one of his sins.” [Related by Ahmad, Abû Dawûd, at-Tirmidhi, an-Nasa’i, and Ibn Majah] And Anas said, “We used to hate that a man should pluck out his white hairs from his head or beard.” [Sahîh Muslim]
12. Supplications
Narrated Abu Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Narrated Abu Huraira radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, “Whoever says: ‘La ilaha illal-lah wahdahu la sharika lahu, lahu-l-mulk wa lahu-l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli shai’in qadir,’ one hundred times will get the same reward as given for manumitting ten slaves; and one hundred good deeds will be written in his accounts, and one hundred sins will be deducted from his accounts, and it (his saying) will be a shield for him from Satan on that day till night, and nobody will be able to do a better deed except the one who does more than he.” [Sahih Al-Bukhari]
Narrated Abu Hurayrah radhiAllahu anhu: Allah’s Apostle sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam said: If anyone extols Allah after every prayer thirty-three times [SubhanAllah], and praises Allah thirty-three times [Alhamdulillah], and declares His Greatness thirty-three times [Allah hu Akbar], ninety-nine times in all, and say to complete a hundred: “There is no god but Allah, having no partner with Him, to Him belongs sovereignty and to Him to praise due, and He is Potent over everything,” his sins will be forgiven even if these are as Abûndant as the foam of the sea. [Sahih Muslim]

Etiquette Towards Animals
A Muslim considers most animals to be deserving of a certain level of respect as creatures. He shows mercy to them due to the mercy of Allah upon them. He also adheres to the following manners with respect to them, which are part of the etiquettes that Islam encourages Muslims to fulfill:
1. A Muslim feeds or gives water to an animal if he finds it hungry or thirsty. This is based on the Messenger’s sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) statement: ”There is a reward (for serving) everything with a moist liver (that is, every living creature).” [Ahmad]
2. A Muslim should have compassion and mercy towards animals. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy.” [Al-Bukhaari and Muslim]
He sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said in another narration: “Have mercy toward those on the Earth and The One above the Heavens will have mercy on you.” [At-Tabaraani]
The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) himself set the best example in this regard. When he sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) saw a group of people using a live animal for archery target practice, he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) said: “May Allah curse the one who uses any creature with a soul as a target.” [Muslim]
Once a bird was distressed because someone had taken its young from her nest. Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) then said: “Who has distressed this one because of its baby? Return its baby to her.” [Abu Daawood]
3. The Muslim must be kind to the animal, even when he is about to slaughter it. Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) has said: “Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence in all things. Thus, if you kill, kill in a kind manner. If you slaughter, slaughter in a kind manner. Each of you should sharpen his blade and spare suffering to the animal he is slaughtering.” [Muslim]
4. A Muslim should never torture an animal by any means of torture, such as beating it, making it carry more than it can handle, mutilating it, or burning it by fire. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) also prohibited the tying down of animals until they die. Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) once said: “A woman entered the Hell-fire because of a cat that she tied down. She neither fed it nor let it free to eat the insects of the earth until it died.” [Al-Bukhaari]
Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) once passed by an anthill that had been burnt to the ground and he sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) said: “It is not becoming that anyone should punish by fire except the Lord of the Fire.” [Abu Daawood]
However, it is permissible to kill harmful animals, such as voracious dogs, wolves, snakes, scorpions, rats, etc. This is based on the Prophet’s sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) statement: “Five noxious or harmful animals are to be killed whether or not one is in the state of pilgrimage: the snake, the speckled raven that has whiteness either on its back or stomach, the rat, the voracious dog and the kite (a bird similar to a hawk).” [Muslim]
It is also confirmed from Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) that he cursed the scorpion and killed it. [Al-Bayhaqi]
Other related matters:
1. It is allowed to brand grazing animals in their ears for some overriding need. The Prophet sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) was seen branding, by his own hand, the camels given in charity. As for other than camels, sheep, goats, and cows, it is not allowed to brand them. The Prophet sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) saw a donkey branded on his face and said: “May Allah curse the one who branded that (donkey) on its face.” [Muslim]
2. One must recognize the right of Allah concerning his animals by paying the Zakah due on them if they are from the animals concerning which one must pay Zakah.
3. One must not become so preoccupied with animals or playing with them that one disobeys Allah, or does not remember Allah properly. Allah has said, (what means): “O you who believe! Let not your properties or your children divert you from the remembrance of Allah.” [Quran 63:9]
Allah’s Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allah exalt his mention ) stated concerning horses: “A horse may be kept for one of three reasons. For one man, it may be a source of reward, for another, it may be a source of living and yet for another, it may be a sinful burden. As for the one for whom it is a source of reward, he is the one who keeps his horse for the sake of Jihaad in Allah’s cause (i.e. fighting); he ties it with a long rope in a pasture or in a garden. So whatever its rope allows it to eat will be regarded as good, rewardable deeds (for its owner). And if it breaks off its rope and jumps over one or two hillocks, even its dung will be considered among his good deeds. A horse is a shelter for the one who keeps it so that he may earn his living honestly and takes it as a refuge to keep him from following forbidden means. (The third is) a horse is a sinful burden for him who keeps it out of pretense and show and with the intention of harming Muslims.” [Al-Bukhaari]
These are, in general, the etiquettes that a Muslim should adhere to with respect to animals, out of obedience to Allaah and His Messenger sallallaahu `alayhi wa sallam ( may Allaah exalt his mention ) and in adherence to what the Islamic law has ordered him… the Sharee’ah of mercy… the Sharee’ah of general goodness for all creatures, be they human or animal.

Significance Of Morning Prayer
[65. Surah At-Talaq: Ayah 2-3] And whosoever keepeth his duty to Allah, Allah will appoint a way out for him. And He provides for him from (sources) he never could imagine. And if anyone puts his trust in Allah, Allah will be sufficient for him.
[Sahih Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 21 Prayer at Night (Tahajjud), Number 243] Narrated by Abu Huraira (Radi Allah Anhu) Allah’s Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, “Satan puts three knots at the back of the head of any of you if he is asleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, ‘The night is long, so stay asleep.’ When one wakes up and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one performs ablution, the second knot is undone, and when one prays the third knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart.”
[Sahih Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 21 Prayer at Night (Tahajjud), Number 245] Narrated ‘Abdullah (Radi Allah Anhu): A person was mentioned before the Allah’s Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) and he was told that he had kept on sleeping till morning and had not got up for the prayer. The Prophet said, “Satan urinated in his ears.”
[Sahih Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 21 Prayer at Night (Tahajjud), Number 246] Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi Allah Anhu): Allah’s Apostle (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) said, “Our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, comes every night down on the nearest Heaven to us when the last third of the night remains, saying: “Is there anyone to invoke Me, so that I may respond to invocation? Is there anyone to ask Me so I may grant him his request? Is anyone seeking My forgiveness, so that I may forgive him?”
Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing.
