Allah’s Love
Question: I am hoping perhaps you could answer a question of mine. The other day I was debating a Christian about God’s love. I myself am a former Christian, now Muslim. He asked me if Allah’s Love was unconditional and I was stumped, because in the Qur’an it says God does not love those who do evil. So I am confused, is God’s Love based on Doing Good, or is His love unconditional? If it is based on doing Good, does that mean when I make mistakes and sin, he stops loving me? I am just confused on this issue. Thank you.
Answer: Indeed, “The Loving” is one of Allah’s names, as He said about Himself: “And He is the Forgiving and Loving” (Qur’an 85:14). Love is just a word that must be translated into action, and it becomes obedience in the case of His creation, human beings, and mercy in the case of the Creator, Allah. You can see that when love is translated into action it is mercy and His mercy is unconditional. You receive Allah’s mercy whether you are an obedient servant of Allah or you are a mushrik (pagan, idolater) and a sinner; they all receive equal treatment in this life. Let us take a few examples:
A man may say to his wife “I love you” but he beats her and does not provide for her. Does he love her?
A wife says to her husband “I love you” but when he desires sex she does not agree to it. Does she love him?
A child says to his parents “I love you” but he disobeys them most of the time. Does he/she love them?
Love must be translated into action, attitude, and behavior, otherwise, it is just a word without meaning. Similarly, Allah’s love is translated into His attributes of forgiving, compassion, and mercy. Look around, and you will find that Allah’s mercy is spread all around. “Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem” means “In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate.” The words are AR-Rahman and AR-Raheem. AR represents the article AL, meaning “the”. The root word is RHM, which may be read as RaHiMa or RaHaMa, means mercy. Allah does not use two identical words next to each other unless there is a difference in their meaning.
Allah is Ar-Raheem for all humankind irrespective of their belief in Allah and their character whether they believe in Allah or not; whether they are good-doers or evildoers; they all obtain their sustenance from Allah. Many evil people are very rich because Allah decided to give them all the wealth and good things of this life; this is because Allah is Ar-Raheem. Allah is also Ar-Rahman for the believers in Him; they are good-doers. They receive special blessings from Allah, that is, happiness and contentment in this life and reward in the hereafter.
The Bible says, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16 NKJV). The converse of this statement is that the rest of humanity will perish, that is, will go to hell without any other way of receiving His forgiveness for the sin they did not commit. What happens to the people who were born and died before God decided to concoct this charade only 2000 years ago?
In the Qur’an, Allah says that He does not love those who reject Him (3:32), does not love those who are transgressors (2:57, 140, 5:87, 7:55), does not love those who are evil livers (5:64), does not love evil talk (4:148) and others. In all these cases, love is connected to the deeds of a person. At the same time, Allah does not deprive them of anything in this life. You will not find that all good people are rich, and all sinners are living in poverty and a wretched life. Allah gives a person the life-long opportunity to turn away from a life of sin and disobedience and receive His forgiveness. Conversely, Allah says, “Say, if you love Allah, obey me (Muhammad), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful” (3:31). If you love Allah, show it in your conduct and obey Allah and His Messenger, for the obedience of His Messenger is the obedience of Allah (4:80). It means our expression of love is in obedience.
See what Allah also says in the Qur’an,” Say: O My slaves (mankind) who have been prodigal to their own hurt! Despair not of the mercy of Allah, Who forgives all sins. Lo! He is the Forgiving, the Merciful…” (39:53-58). Here the message is that those who commit evil are doing wrong and hurting themselves in this life and the next, however, Allah’s forgiveness has no limits and the only condition is asking for forgiveness and repentance (not committing wrongs again knowingly).

Declaration Of The Prophet Of Islam
[Quran – 10:104] “O ye men, if you are in doubt concerning my religion, then know that I worship not those whom you worship instead of ALLAH, but I worship ALLAH alone………”
The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has said :
[Bukhari, Book #2, Hadith #42] “Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, “Whoever said” None has the right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell.”

Acknowledge The Greeting With A More Courteous Recogntion
[ALLAH’S Quran 4:86] “When you are greeted with words or gestures, acknowledge the greeting with a more courteous recognition or at least return the same formula; it is an obligation. Allah has always taken account of all things and all actions.”
The Prophet (peace be upon him) has said: [Malik’s Muwatta, Volume 47, Hadith 16] “The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Shake hands and rancor will disappear. Give presents to each other and love each other, and enmity will disappear.”

Hazrat Luqman’s (Alaihe Salam) Advice For His Son!
Are we giving these pieces of advice to our sons and daughters? Analyze yourself. If not, start doing it from TODAY.
Hazrat Luqman AS, one of Allah’s pious men, gave some precious piece of advice to his son, for successful living in the world here and hereafter. The 10 guidelines he gave to his son are words of wisdom, which are followed even today, enabling us to live a happy, peaceful, and successful life. Practice these guidelines, make them part of your character, and enjoy a very prosperous life: –
1. Hazrat Luqman AS told his son, “Join not in worship others with Allah. Truly, joining others in worship with Allah is the greatest injustice and oppression indeed.”
2. He reminded his son that Allah has “enjoined on man to be dutiful and good to his parents. His mother bore him upon weakness and hardship”. The total dependence of infants on their mothers is for two years. He also guides not to follow nonbeliever parents but treat them with kindness.
3. Hazrat Luqman AS, tells his son that Allah’s Knowledge is so perfect that the existence of anything, big or small, is acknowledged and controlled by Him. “If it be equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed, and tough it be as a rock, or in the Heavens or the earth, Allah will bring it forth. Certainly, Allah is subtle in bringing out that grain, well aware of its place”. He reminds his son about Allah’s absolute control over His kingdom. Such might and power must not be challenged or ignored by anyone.
4. Another great piece of advice by Hazrat Luqman AS to his son is to establish regular prayer, on time and with the best possible performance. He said, “O my son! Offer prayer perfectly.” Prayer is the direct connection between a Human being and his Creator. Parents must take great care to teach and call upon their children to establish prayer.
5. Hazrat Luqman AS advises his son to “enjoin (people) for good, and forbid from evil”. If every Muslim observes this duty, then evil and mischief will have no place in Human beings society.
6. After the useful advice he offered his son, Hazrat Luqman AS recommended patience in implementing them, and in all matters of life. “Bear with patience whatever befalls you. For sure, these are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption”. Because patience is a righteous act ordered, and rewarded by Allah.
7. Arrogance is an attribute of Allah alone and not for man. The Creator and Owner of the universe is the only One who deserves to be Arrogant. Allah warns arrogant people with punishment in Hellfire. Hazrat Luqman AS said, “And turn not your face away from men with pride.”
8. To be moderate is a great attitude anyone can possess. Hazrat Luqman advised his son, “Do not walk in insolence through the earth. For sure, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster.” Remember, Allah does not like that men are arrogant and proud of themselves.
9. To be moderate in walking and talking is also one of Hazrat Luqman AS’s advice to his son. “And be moderate (or show no insolence) in walking.” Every divine religion offers a code of conduct for life, but Islam offers comprehensive guidelines in this regard that will produce the best behavior and generate respect in mankind.
10. Hazrat Luqman AS reminds his son that being harsh while talking will liken his voice to the braying of a donkey. Shouting does not win hearts, rather, it will offend and alienate people. “And lower your voice. Truly, the harshest of all voices is the voice (braying) of an ass!!”
Luqman shows great wisdom in his advice to his son. If Muslim parents take his example and have their children implement these pieces of advice, then by Allah’s permission, our Ummah will succeed in all walks of life.

Stop Oppression Of Believers
ALLAH’S Warning to Disbelievers: STOP OPPRESSION OF BELIEVERS
[ALLAH’S Quran – 8:38] “Tell those who disbelieve that if they cease (from the persecution of believers) that which is past will be forgiven them; but if they return (thereto) then the example of the men of old hath already gone (before them, for a warning).”
The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has said :
[Muslim, Book #032, Hadith #6248 ] “Jabir b. Abdullah reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Be on your guard against committing oppression, for oppression is a darkness on the Day of Resurrection, and be on your guard against pettimindedness for pettimindedness destroyed those who were before you, as it incited them to shed blood and make lawful what was unlawful for them.”
