Al-Maun (Charity)

Sincere and pious people are always ready and eager to help others. True religion encourages its followers to provide support for the weak, sustenance for the poor, provisions for the orphan, and guidance for those who have lost their direction in life.

Neglect of these virtues has given credence to godless and materialistic ideologies such as communism, which swept across nearly half of the world, wreaking havoc upon millions everywhere.

Had believers, not least the Muslims themselves, upheld their faith and observed their religious beliefs,

Arrogance, Pride, Conceit, Vanity And Haughtiness

Allah, Most High, says, {Moses said, ‘I have indeed called upon my Lord and your Lord (for protection) from every arrogant one who believes not in the Day of Account.} (Ghafir: 27)

{Verily He loveth not the arrogant.} (An-Nahl: 23)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Once a man was walking along in a new set of clothes, with a swagger to his step, pleased with himself, Allah caused the earth to swallow him, and he will keep sinking until the Last Day.” (Reported by AI-Bukhari)

“Tyrants and the arrogant will be raised on the last Day as grain strewn under feet that the people will walk upon.” (Reported by At- Tirmidhi and Ahmad)

Al-Kawthar (Good in Abundance)

This very brief surah is like a short, sharp message of good news addressed directly and personally to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). It was to console him for the loss of all his male children at a very early age. According to Arabian custom before Islam, the loss of male offspring was considered a great misfortune because it signified the cutting off of a father’s name and ancestry, and his fading into obscurity. A man not survived by his sons was thus given the pejorative Arabic name al-abtar (sonless).

The surah came to reassure the Prophet that God’s grace and generosity towards him were great and unparalleled. He was favored by receiving the Qur’anic revelation; he was selected as a messenger of God to all mankind; and he is loved and revered by millions worldwide. In every moment that passes, someone, somewhere, is praying for Muhammad (peace be upon him) or praising his name.

The Leader Who Misleads His Followers, The Tyrant and The Oppressor

Allah, the Almighty, says, “The blame is only against those who oppress men with wrongdoing and insolently transgress beyond bounds through the land, defying right and justice: for such there will be a grievous chastisement.” (AI-Shura: 42)

The Qur’an also states, {Do not think, O Prophet, that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them until a day when their eyes will stare in horror. rushing forth, heads raised, never blinking, hearts void.} (Ibrahim: 42-43)

And, {nor did they forbid one another the iniquities which they committed: evil indeed were the deeds which they did } (AI-Ma’idah: 79).
