Do Not Go Near Adultery (Part 1)

It was reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Satan (Iblis) often sends his soldiers everywhere in the earth, saying to them, ‘Whoever diverts a Muslim, I will crown him. The most skillful one in diverting people, the nearest to me. Meanwhile, a devil comes and says, “I kept tempting such and such until he divorced his wife.’ Iblis says, ‘You did nothing. He will marry another woman.’ Another comes and says, ‘I kept tempting such and such until I created a grudge between him and his brother. ’ Iblis says, ‘You did nothing. He will reconcile with him.’ Eventually comes another devil who says, ‘I kept tempting such and such until he fell into adultery.’ Iblis says, ‘Great and well done. Then he makes him nearer to him and crowns him.” (Reported by Al-Siuti)

We seek Allah’s refuge from the evils of Satan and his soldiers. It was reported that on the authority of Anas that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Faith is like a garment with which Allah covers whomever He likes. But if he falls in adultery, this garment will be taken off, and if he repents, He will restore it again.” (Reported by Ad-Dai1ami. It’s a weak hadith)

Virtues Of Congregational Prayers

Performing the (obligatory) prayers in congregation is mandatory and required of every believing adult male who has no excuse for not doing so.

{And those who remain patient, seeking their Lord’s Countenance, perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat), and spend out of that which We have bestowed on them, secretly and openly, and defend evil with good, for such there is a good end} [Surah Al-Rad: 22]

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “Offering the prayer in congregation carries 27 times greater reward than offering it alone individually.” [Bukhari, Muslim]

Ibn Masud (May Allâh be pleased with him) reported: He who likes to meet Allah tomorrow (i.e., on the Day of Requital) as a Muslim, should take care and observe the Salat when the Adhan is announced for them. Allah has expounded to your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) the ways of right guidance, and these (the prayers) are part of the right guidance. If you have to perform Salat in your houses, as this man who stays away (from the mosque) and performs Salat in his house, you will abandon the Sunnah (practice) of your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and the departure from the Sunnah of your Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)will lead you astray. I have seen the time when no one stayed behind except a well-known hypocrite. I also saw that a man was brought swaying (on account of weakness) between two men till he was set up in a row (in the masjid).
Muslim (Book 04, chapter 85, # 1376)

This Hadith makes the following four points:
1. Emphasis on performing Salat in congregation.
2. The passion of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) for Salat.
3. Evasion(avoidance) from Salat with congregation is a practice of hypocrites.
4. Inducement for following the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) because evasion from it is bound to lead one astray.

Your Sustainer Has Willed Upon Himself The Law Of Grace And Mercy

[Quran – 6:12] “Say: “Unto whom belongs all that is in the heavens and on earth?” Say: “Unto God, who has willed upon Himself the law of grace and mercy. He will assuredly gather you all together on the Day of Resurrection, [the coming of] which is beyond all doubt: yet those who have squandered their own selves-it is they who refuse to believe [in Him],”

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has said:
[Bukhari, Book #54, Hadith #416] “Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When Allah completed the creation, He wrote in His Book which is with Him on His Throne, ‘My Mercy overpowers My Anger.”

[Muslim, Book #037, Hadith #6626] “(2) Abu Huraira reported that Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: When Allah created the creation as He was upon the Throne, He put down in His Book: Verily, My mercy predominates My wrath”

[Sunan Abudawud, Book #41, Hadith #4923] “Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-‘As: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: The Compassionate One has mercy on those who are merciful. If you show mercy to those who are on the earth, He Who is in the heaven will show mercy to you.”

[Al-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 1011] The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “It is better for a leader to make a mistake in forgiving than to make a mistake in punishing.”

Take Not Unbelievers As Friends Allies Or Helpers

[1] “Let not believers take disbelievers as allies rather than believers. And whoever [of you] does that has nothing with Allah, except when taking precaution against them in prudence. And Allah warns you of Himself, and to Allah is the [final] destination.” [3:28]

[2] “Those who take infidels for friends, instead of the believers. Seek they honor with them verily then honor is Allah’s altogether.” [4:139]

[3] “O you who believe, do not take the disbelievers for friends instead of the believers. Do you want to produce before Allah a clear evidence against yourselves?” [4:144]

[4] “O you who believe! do not take the Jews and the Christians for friends; they are friends of each other; and whoever amongst you takes them for a friend, then surely he is one of them; surely Allah does not guide the unjust people.” [5:51]

[5] “O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers.” [5:57]

[6] “Thou seest many of them turning in friendship to the Unbelievers. Evil indeed is (the works) which their souls have sent forward before them (with the result), that Allah’s wrath is on them, and in torment will they abide.”
[5:80]

[7] “If they were indeed faithful to Allah and to the Prophet Muhammad and gave credence to the Quran sent to him, they would not have sought the infidels’ tutelage, but many of them are indeed wicked.” [5:81]

[8] “Those who disbelieve – they are friends and protectors of one another (especially against you). Unless you do it also (i.e. maintain solidarity among the believers) there will be unrest on the earth and great corruption.” [8:73]

[9] “O ye who believe! Take not my enemies and yours as friends (or protectors),- offering them (your) love, even though they have rejected the Truth that has come to you, and have (on the contrary) driven out the Prophet and yourselves (from your homes), (simply) because ye believe in Allah your Lord! If ye have come out to strive in My Way and to seek My Good Pleasure, (take them not as friends), holding secret converse of love (and friendship) with them: for I know full well all that ye conceal and all that ye reveal. And any of you that does this has strayed from the Straight Path.” [60:1]

[10] “O you who believe! do not make friends with people who have incurred the displeasure of Allah. They are indeed despaired of the Hereafter (since they have no faith in it), just as the disbelievers are despaired of those who are in the graves (as they do not believe that the dead will ever come to life again).” [60:13]

The Tree Of Zaqqum

The Tree of Zaqqum is a torment inside of the Hellfire that Allah (SWT) has prepared for those who disbelieve.

The Holy Quran says:
17.60 And [remember, O Muhammad], when We told you, “Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people.” And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur’an. And We threaten them, but it increases them not except in great transgression.

37.61 For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work.
37.62 Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum?
37.63 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers.
37.64 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire,
37.65 Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils.
37.66 And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies.
37.67 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water.
37.68 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire.

44.43 Indeed, the tree of Zaqqum
44.44 Is food for the sinful.
44.45 Like murky oil, it boils within bellies
44.46 Like the boiling of scalding water.
44.47 [It will be commanded], “Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire,
44.48 Then pour over his head from the torment of scalding water.”
44.49 [It will be said], “Taste! Indeed, you are the honored, the noble!
44.50 Indeed, this is what you used to dispute.”

56.51 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers,
56.52 Will be eating from trees of zaqqum
56.53 And filling with it your bellies
56.54 And drinking on top of it from scalding water
56.55 And will drink as the drinking of thirsty camels.
56.56 That is their accommodation on the Day of Recompense.

In the Quran, the Tree of Zaqqum is mentioned in these four separate surahs (chapters), and I can never even imagine describing it as it’s shown in the Quran.

A Hadith says:
Narrated Ibn Abbas: Regarding: ‘And We granted the vision (Ascension to the Heaven “Miraj”) which We showed you (O Muhammad as an actual eye witness) but as a trial for mankind.’ (17.60) It was an actual eye-witness which was shown to Allah’s Apostle during the night he was taken on a journey (through the heavens). And the cursed tree is the tree of Az-zaqqum (a bitter pungent tree that grows at the bottom of Hell). (Book #60, Hadith #240) [Bukhari]

So here we have so many warners of these punishments, and we still disbelieve, so are we not defiantly disobedient? May Allah (SWT) save us all from His Wrath and may He admit us into His Mercy. Ameen.

Killing Of The Innocent, Earns Allah’s Eternal Wrath

[Allah’s Quran – 4:92-93] “AND IT IS not conceivable that a believer should slay another believer unless it be by mistake……………………. But whoever deliberately slays another believer, his requital shall be hell, therein to abide; and God will condemn him, and will reject him, and will prepare for him awesome suffering.”

The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) has said:
[Muslim, Book #020, Hadith #4555] “Who so attacks my Umma (indiscriminately) killing the righteous and the wicked of them, sparing not (even) those staunch in faith and fulfilling not his promise made with those who have been given a pledge of security-he has nothing to do with me and I have nothing to do with him.”

[Bukhari, Book #58, Hadith #233] “Narrated ‘Ubada bin As Samit: I was one of the Naqibs who gave the (Aqaba) Pledge of Allegiance to Allah’s Apostle. We gave the pledge of allegiance to him that we would not worship anything other than Allah, would not steal, would not commit illegal sexual intercourse, would not kill a person whose killing Allah has made illegal except rightfully, would not rob each other, and we would not be promised Paradise if we did the above sins, then if we committed one of the above sins, Allah will give His Judgment concerning it.”

[Muslim, Book #017, Hadith #4238] “Ubida b. as-Samit reported: I was one of those headmen who swore allegiance to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) that we will not associate anything with Allah, and will not commit adultery, and will not steal, and will not kill any soul which Allah has forbidden, but with justice nor plunder, nor disobey (Allah and His Apostle), then Paradise (will be the reward) in case we do these (acts); and if we commit any outrage (and that goes unpunished in the world), it is Allah Who would decide about it. Ibn Rumh said: Its judgment lies with Allah.”

[Sunan Abu Dawud, Book #14, Hadith #2526] “Narrated Anas ibn Malik: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Three things are the roots of faith: to refrain from (killing) a person who utters, “There is no god but Allah” and not to declare him unbeliever whatever sin he commits, and not to excommunicate him from Islam for his any action; and jihad will be performed continuously since the day Allah sent me as a prophet until the day the last member of my community will fight with the Dajjal (Antichrist). The tyranny of any tyrant and the justice of any just (ruler) will not invalidate it. One must have faith in Divine decree.”

We Should Avoid Harams

Hadrat [1] Imam-i Rabbani says in the 67th letter of the second volume of his Maktubat:
We should avoid the harams [2] as much as possible. We should deem the things which Allahu ta’ala dislikes as fatal poisons. Thinking about our faults, we should feel ashamed, embarrassed for having done them. We should repent and be sorry. This is only becoming of His slaves. He who talks and acts in a manner which Allahu ta’ala dislikes without being ashamed, embarrassed, has been persistently opposing Allahu ta’ala. Their obstinacies will almost drive them out of Islam and will include them among His enemies. O our Allah! Have mercy on us. Through Thine Favour and Mercy, do not let us leave the right way.

It is written in the third paragraph of the second chapter of the fourth section of the book Riyad-un-nasikhin, “Though the harams have been divided into two classes, grave sins, and small sins, we should avoid the small sins as well as we avoid the grave ones, nor should we slight any sin. For Allahu ta’ala is muntaqim [3] and ghani (independent) . He does not fear anybody in doing what He wishes. He has concealed His wrath, His enmity in sins. Any sin which is supposed to be small may cause His vengeance, His wrath.”

The Wrath of Allah On Those Who Disrespected The Holy Prophet Muhammed Sallalaahu Alaihi wasallam

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 814:
Narrated Anas: There was a Christian who embraced Islam and read Surat-al-Baqara and Al-Imran, and he used to write (the revelations) for the Prophet. Later on he returned to Christianity again and he used to say: “Muhammad knows nothing but what I have written for him.”

Then Allah caused him to die, and the people buried him, but in the morning they saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, “This is the act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and took his body out of it because he had run away from them.”

They again dug the grave deeply for him, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. They said, “This is an act of Muhammad and his companions. They dug the grave of our companion and threw his body outside it, for he had run away from them.”

They dug the grave for him as deep as they could, but in the morning they again saw that the earth had thrown his body out. So they believed that what had befallen him was not done by human beings and had to leave him thrown (on the ground).

Sahih Bukhari Volume 4, Book 56, Number 814:

Those who disrespected the Holy Prophet Muhammed Salalaahu Alaihi wasallam faced the Divine wrath of Allah

 

Hidden Sadaqah Extinguishes Allah’s Wrath

Sadaqah (optional charity) refers to helping others in any way, by giving them in charity, by spending some time with them, listening to them attentively, directing them to the right path, feeling for them, smiling to them, removing whatever may harm them in streets, etc. All these are instances of sadaqah in its comprehensive sense.
Hidden sadaqah is what one gives in secret with no one but Almighty Allah knowing about it. When one gives charity to a needy person in secret, one spares the needy person the feelings of inferiority he may experience if given charity in front of other people.

Hidden sadaqah will help the needy meet their needs and will also help them get rid of the negative feelings of envy and grudge they might have harbored towards the rich people.

Feelings of love and respect would grow then between the needy and rich people, and this, in turn, would positively reflect on the unity of society and bind its members with the bonds of love and cooperation.
When the poor’s needs are met in an atmosphere that preserves them their dignity, the tension they would live in because of need will decrease and their energy for work will increase. This will reflect positively on their social relations with others.

There are many poor people who are in dire need, yet they restrain from asking for charity. Hidden sadaqah will help them a lot and spare them exposure to humiliation.

Allah Almighty says about that kind of people: [(Alms are) for the poor who are straitened for the cause of Allah, who cannot travel in the land (for trade). The unthinking man accounteth them wealthy because of their restraint. Thou shalt know them by their mark: They do not beg of men with importunity.] (Al-Baqarah: 273)
As for he who gives hidden sadaqah, the process of giving itself provides him with great happiness and purifies his soul. It helps him get rid of selfishness and develop feelings of cooperation with others. It is also a means of protecting his wealth, [for when he gives others, he wins their love, and thus spares himself the influence of their envy.] In essence, giving sadaqah reflects on the giver and benefits him [as much as it benefits the recipients].

Allah Almighty says: [….. And whatever you spend in good, it is for yourselves, when you spend not except seeking Allah’s Face. And whatever you spend in good, it will be repaid to you in full, and you shall not be wronged.)…] (Al-Baqarah: 272)

Furthermore, hidden sadaqah helps its givers get rid of feelings of depression that they may experience. When one gives the poor, one feels deep happiness, especially when one hears them praying for one and expressing gratitude for one.

Contemplate the image Allah Almighty gives in the following verse that describes the example of the one who gives generously in charity: [And the example of those who spend their wealth seeking means to the approval of Allah and assuring [reward for] themselves is like a garden on high ground which is hit by a downpour – so it yields its fruits in double. And [even] if it is not hit by a downpour, then a drizzle [is sufficient]. And Allah, of what you do, is Seeing..] (Al-Baqarah: 265)

Based on the above lines, the psychological analysis of the influence of hidden sadaqah on both the giver and the recipient shows that it extinguishes the humiliation of the recipient and the embarrassment of the giver. It creates between them such an atmosphere of peaceful coexistence that Almighty Allah is pleased with. Moreover, it extinguishes the wrath that Allah Most High may have towards the giver, for there is a divine hadith to the effect that ?the hidden sadaqah extinguishes Allah’s wrath.
