Make Best Use Of Remaining Ramadan Days
Recite the Quran, give in charity, and do good deeds. Ramadan is the month of reciting the Quran, the month of worship and Taraweeh prayer, patience, soul-searching, repentance, and a time to change.
Allah revealed His Book as the guide to the whole of mankind. If a person recites the Quran the way it should be recited, then it is a remedy and a cause for opening the doors of good, well-being, steadfastness, happiness, peace of mind, pride, and victory. The laws should be based on the Quran and the Holy Quran is the remedy for Ummah’s ailments. There is no reformation for mankind or peace of mind and comfort or security or discipline except by following the teachings of the Quran.
The Quran is addressed to all mankind. There are no differences between male and female or rich and poor. The Quran addresses everyone. Allah’s Holy Book transcends the limits of time, place, and differences among people. Its message is universal for all human beings and the jinn. The Holy Quran is the path to the happiness of the Ummah and all mankind. It is the Quran that abolished bondage and educated the Ummah.
The month of hard work, patience, discipline, and recitation of the Quran. Now we are in the last few days of Ramadan and Muslims are to make an added effort by offering prayer, recitation of the Quran, and doing good deeds with the hope that one of these blessed nights will be the Night of Power (Lailat Al-Qadr). People must do soul-searching, contemplation, repent of their deeds, and mend their ways for the better because death comes suddenly. Muslims to be God-fearing and observe Taqwa.
Make the best use of the remaining few days of Ramadan by offering prayer, reciting the Quran, giving in charity generously, and doing other good deeds with the hope that a night during these 10 days may be the Night of Power (Lailat Al-Qadr).
All should be extra prepared to do good deeds before death when it is too late. The Muslims must work harder during the last 10 days of Ramadan because the Prophet (peace be upon him) did not specify when the Night of Power occurs but said it is on the odd nights like the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th, or the last night.
If Lailat Al-Qadr coincides with the night when the Muslim is working hard in prayer, reciting the Quran, and doing other good deeds, then his sins will be forgiven. Muslims should sincerely fear Allah and adhere steadfastly to Islam.
Don’t forget the importance of giving Zakat Al-Fitr as it purifies the fasting because there might be some shortcomings in one’s fasting. It should be given on Eid Day before Eid prayer and it is allowed to give Zakat Al-Fitr one or two days before Eid Al-Fitr day.
Recitation Of The Holy Qur’an in Holy Month Of Ramadan
The revelation of the Holy Qur’an onto the blessed heart of Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) began in this very month of Ramadan, and who can know this relationship better than Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). The relationship between the month of Ramadan and the Holy Qur’an can also be seen in a Hadith that is narrated by Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) in which Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Fasting and the Qur’an will intercede on behalf of a person. The fast will say “O Almighty Lord! I stopped him from eating and fulfilling his desires during the day, accept my intercession on his behalf.” The Qur’an will say, “I prevented him from sleeping at night, accept my intercession on his behalf.” Therefore we should make it a habit to recite the Holy Qur’an so that we may thrive on the blessings and excellences thereof.
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (Radiallahu Ta’ala Anh) narrates that, “If a person desires that he loves Allah Ta’ala and His Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), he should recite the Holy Qur’an.” Many of us claim to love Allah Ta’ala and His Beloved Rasool (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) but our claims are short-lived without any action. Therefore, if you claim to love Allah Ta’ala and want to be truthful in that claim, then make it your habit to recite the Holy Qur’an and firmly act on its orders.
The Holy Qur’an is such a book that looking at, reciting, learning, and contemplating its meanings are all forms of worship. Our minds cannot comprehend the reward that Allah Ta’ala grants for reciting the Holy Qur’an. Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “One who recites the Qur’an and then thinks that someone else received more reward than him, such a person has definitely taken lightly, something that has been made very exalted by Allah Ta’ala.” When a heart is drowned in fulfilling its desires and committing various kinds of sins, becomes neglectful of the remembrance of Almighty Allah, and forgets its reason for being alive, the result is that little by little, it becomes rusted, and this rust is the cause of dissension in the whole body.
Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “Undoubtedly, hearts get rusted just as iron gets rusty when water falls on it.” The Blessed Companions asked, “Ya Rasoolullah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam), how is the heart cleaned?” Our Beloved Aaqa (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) replied, “Remembering death often and reciting the Holy Qur’an.” [Mishkaat Shareef ]

What Is The Quran?
There are a few things we need to know about the Holy Quran before we start interpreting its verses. I shall briefly state the most important of these here:
The Quran is not simply a book that equals the Bible, though there are many common points between the two. One major difference is that the original books of the Bible are not available in the form and language in which they were first written and only translations are extant – whereas no translation of the Quran is called the Quran.
Anyone who has done translation knows that some kind of interpretation creeps into every translation, and only a person who knows the original language can be a legitimate interpreter of the sourcebook. So, to interpret the Quran truthfully, one should have a good knowledge of the Arabic language.
Another point about the Quran is that it is not a book of history, a book of science, or a book of law – though it has all these in it. It is first and foremost a book of Divine Guidance. Also, one needs to know that the Quran does not contain detailed explanations of the situations that prompted the revelations of its verses.
Mostly the verses are guidelines and general principles. Besides, they offer good news for the good people and warnings for the misguided. They contain a number of narrations that serve to give admonitions, exhortations, and warnings to mankind in general. Also in certain cases, the Quran gives specific instructions too.
The Quran was revealed in the course of the 23 years of the prophetic career of Muhammad (peace be upon him), in accordance with the requirements of the particular contexts that called for divine guidance in certain issues. For this reason, in order to arrive at the correct understanding of many of its verses, we need to know the circumstances in which these verses were revealed. That is why the foundation of the religion of Islam is not just the Quran; it includes the sayings and the example of the Messenger (peace be upon him), as well. This also means that the best interpreter of the Quran is the Prophet (peace be upon him), to whom the verses were actually revealed.
For example, Allah says in the Holy Quran:
And We have sent down to you (O Muhammad, peace be upon him) the Book (this Quran) in truth, confirming the Scriptures that came before it, and Muhaymin (trustworthy in highness and a witness) over it (old Scriptures). So judge among them by what Allah has revealed, and follow not their vain desires, diverging away from the truth that has come to you. To each among you, We have prescribed a law and a clear way. If Allah had willed, He would have made you one nation, but that (He) may test you in what He has given you; so compete in good deeds. The return of you (all) is to Allah; then He will inform you about that in which you used to differ. (Surah Al-Ma idah, 5: 48)
This above verse clearly states:
(1) That the Quran is not the only scripture sent by God.
(2) That the Quran confirms the truth in the earlier scriptures.
(3) That God will judge between those who dispute the truth of the matters at issue.
The Prophet (peace be upon him), in fact, started his preaching of Islam among his own people in Makkah. To most of the influential figures in Makkah, Islam meant a number of things. Among these were the giving up of their gods and idols, the acceptance of their slaves as equals, and the loss of a number of privileges they were enjoying in the old dispensation.
Naturally, they opposed Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his religion; but Muhammad’s (peace be upon him) determination in his mission piqued these leaders so much that they unleashed a most brutal persecution campaign against him and his followers. It was in this context that he was forced to emigrate to Madina, where he was welcomed, wholeheartedly, by the people of that city.
Quran, The Glorious Book Of Guidance
“(This is) the Glorious Book in which there is no chance of doubt. (It is) a guide for those who guard against evil and fear Allah: who believe in the unseen, and are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided them with; Who believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed to those before you, and are certain of the Hereafter. It is they who follow the guidance from their LORD and it is they who shall prosper.”

The Prophet (peace be upon him) has said :
[Muslim, Book #004, Hadith #1694] “’Abd al-Rahman b. ‘Auf reported: I asked ‘A’isha, the mother of the believers, (to tell me) the words with which the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) commenced the prayer when he got up at night. She said: When he got up at night he would commence his prayer with these words: O Allah, Lord of Gabriel, and Michael, and Israfil, the Creator of the heavens and the earth, Who knowest the unseen and the seen; Thou decidest amongst Thy servants concerning their differences. Guide me with Thy permission in the divergent views (which the people) hold about Truth, for it is Thou Who guidest whom Thou wilt to the Straight Path”

What Does Quran Say About Quran?
Who Sent Quran?
And this is not the attribute of this Quran, that anyone might fabricate it without being sent down by Allah, Yes it is a confirmation of the former Books and is the detailed explanation of what is written in the Table, there is no doubt in it, it is from the Lord of the worlds. [10:37]
Then do they not ponder in Quran and if it had been from other than Allah, then they would surely have found therein much discrepancy? [4:82]
On Whom Quran Is Descended?
Indeed, it is We who have sent down to you, [O Muhammad], the Qur’an progressively. [76:23]
We relate to you the best narration, in that We revealed to you this Quran, though no doubt, you had no knowledge before.[12:3]
And likewise, We revealed to you a Quran in Arabic so that you may warn thereby the mother of all towns the Meccans and those who live around it and you may warn them of a Day of Assembly wherein there is no doubt. A party is in paradise and a party is in the blaze. [42:7]
Say you, ‘Whose evidence is the greatest? Say you, ‘Allah is witness between you and me this Quran has been revealed to me so that with it may warn you and whomsoever it reaches.’ Then do you give this evidence that besides Allah there are other gods? Say you ‘I do not give this evidence. ‘Say you, ‘He is the only one to be worshiped and I am quit of all those, you associate with Him’.[6:19]
For Whom Quran Is Descended?
This is a Book whose verses have been fully explained, an Arabic Quran for a people of understanding.[41:3]
We are knowing well what they are saying and you are not a tyrant over them, therefore admonish by Quran him who fears My threat. [50:45]
When Quran Is Descended?
The month of Ramzan in which the Quran was sent down, the direction for the people and guidance and clear signs of judgment; that whoso of you finds this month, necessarily, he should fast in it, and whoso is ill or on a journey then same number of fasting in other days; Allah desires facility for you and desires not hardship and for this, that you should complete the counting and speak of the Greatness of Allah, as He guided you and so that you may be grateful. [2:185]
Why Quran Is Descended?
Say you, ‘Whose evidence is the greatest? Say you, ‘Allah is witness between you and me this Quran has been revealed to me so that with it may warn you and whomsoever it reaches.’ Then do you give this evidence that besides Allah there are other gods? Say you ‘I do not give this evidence. ‘Say you, ‘He is the only one to be worshiped and I am quit of all those, you associate with Him’.[6:19]
No doubt, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.[12:2]
‘O, beloved! We sent not this Quran upon you that you may be put to trouble.[20:2]
And We have not taught him to compose verses and nor it is befitting to his dignity. It is not but admonition and luminous Quran.[36:69]
We relate to you the best narration, in that We revealed to you this Quran, though no doubt, you had no knowledge before. [12:3]
And likewise, We revealed to you a Quran in Arabic so that you may warn thereby the mother of all towns the Meccans and those who live around it and you may warn them of a Day of Assembly wherein there is no doubt. A party is in paradise and a party is in the blaze. [42:7]
And We sent down Quran in pieces so that you may read it to mankind at intervals and We sent it down gradually bit by bit.[17:106]
No doubt, this Quran shows that path which is straightest and gives good tidings to the believers who do good deeds that they shall have a great reward.[17:9]
And this is not the attribute of this Quran, that anyone might fabricate it without being sent down by Allah, Yes it is a confirmation of the former Books and is the detailed explanation of what is written in the Table, there is no doubt in it, it is from the Lord of the worlds.[10:37]
If We had sent down this Quran upon any mountain, you would certainly have seen it humbled and split asunder for fear of Allah. And those examples, We profound for mankind that they may reflect.[59:21]
How Quran Is Descended?
Taught the Quran to His beloved.[55:2]
And likewise, We revealed to you a Quran in Arabic so that you may warn thereby the mother of all towns the Meccans and those who live around it and you may warn them of a Day of Assembly wherein there is no doubt. A party is in paradise and a party is in the blaze.[42:7]
And We sent down Quran in pieces so that you may read it to mankind at intervals and We sent it down gradually bit by bit.[17:106]

How Things Are Explained In Quran?
And undoubtedly, We have narrated in this Quran all types of examples for the people in order that they may take heed.[39:27]
And no doubt, We explained in this Quran variedly that they might understand. And nothing is increased in them by it but hatted. [17:41]
And undoubtedly, We have set in this Quran every kind of examples for the people. If you bring them any sign, the infidels would certainly say then, ‘you are not but on falsehood’.[30:58]
And thus We have sent down the Quran in Arabic and explained therein various ways of the torments that haply they may fear or it may generate in their hearts some thinking.[20:113]
How Different People Treated Quran?
And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they surely would have said, Why not its verses have been made clear? What, a book in a foreign tongue and the Prophet Arabian. Say you, ‘that is a guidance and a cure for the believers.’ And those who believe not, in their ears is a plug and to them, it is blindness. They are like those. Who are called from a far-off place.[41:44]
And the Messenger said, ‘O my Lord, my people took ‘ this Quran as a thing abandoned.[25:30]
What Is Conveyed By Quran?
And this is not the attribute of this Quran, that anyone might fabricate it without being sent down by Allah, Yes it is a confirmation of the former Books and is the detailed explanation of what is written in the Table, there is no doubt in it, it is from the Lord of the worlds.[10:37]
Alif-Lam-Raa. These are the verses of a Book and of a Bright Quran.[15:1]
And no doubt, We gave you seven verses, which are being repeated. And the Grand Quran.[15:87]
And We send down in Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers, and it adds loss only to the unjust.[17:82]
And thus We have sent down the Quran in Arabic and explained therein various ways of the torments that haply they may fear or it may generate in their hearts some thinking.[20:113]
And undoubtedly, We have explained in various manners all kinds of examples in this Quran for the people. And the man is over everything most contentious.[18:54]
And undoubtedly, We have in this Quran described every kind of saying in various ways, then most of the men accepted nothing but being ungrateful.[17:89]
Undoubtedly, this Quran explains to the children of Israel most of those things in which they differ.[27:76]
And undoubtedly, We have narrated in this Quran all types of examples for the people in order that they may take heed.[39:27]
And undoubtedly, We have set in this Quran every kind of example for the people. If you bring them any sign, the infidels would certainly say then, ‘you are not but on falsehood’.[0:58]
What Is The Language Of the Quran?
The Quran is in the Arabic language wherein there is no crookedness in order that they may fear.[39:28]
This is a Book whose verses have been fully explained, an Arabic Quran for a people of understanding. [41:3]
No doubt, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran so that you may understand.[12:2]
And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they surely would have said, Why not its verses have been made clear? What, a book in a foreign tongue and the Prophet Arabian. Say you, ‘that is a guidance and a cure for the believers.’ And those who believe not, in their ears is a plug and to them, it is blindness. They are like those. Who are called from a far-off place. [41:44]
And likewise, We revealed to you a Quran in Arabic so that you may warn thereby the mother of all towns the Meccans and those who live around it and you may warn them of a Day of Assembly wherein there is no doubt. A party is in paradise and a party is in the blaze. [42:7]
We have sent it down an Arabic Quran that you may understand. [43:3]
And thus We have sent down the Quran in Arabic and explained therein various ways of the [20:113]
What Is The Truthness Of The Quran?
And this is not the attribute of this Quran, that anyone might fabricate it without being sent down by Allah, Yes it is a confirmation of the former Books and is the detailed explanation of what is written in the Table, there is no doubt in it, it is from the Lord of the worlds.[10:37]
Then do they not ponder in Quran and if it had been from other than Allah, then they would surely have found therein much discrepancy?[4:82]
Undoubtedly, this is an Honourable Quran. [56:77]
By this renowned Quran.[38:1]
By the wise Quran.[36:2]
But it is a glorious Quran.[85:21]
Say you, ‘if the men and Jinn all agreed together to King the like thereof, though in them one may be helper of other. [17:88]
What Happens When Quran Is Recited?
And O beloved! When you recited Quran, We placed between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a hidden veil.[17:45]
And We have put coverings over their hearts lest they should understand it and in their ears heaviness. And when you remember in Quran your Lord alone, they run away fuming their back hatefully. [17:46]
Who Watch When Quran Is Recited?
And you are busy in any work and recite any Quran from Him, and you perform any act, We are witnesses over you when do you commence it. And there is nothing hidden from your Lord even an atom’s weight in the earth or in heaven, and there is nothing smaller than that or greater but it is in a luminous Book. [10:61]
Which Is The Best Way TO Recite Quran?
And when the Quran is recited, hear it patiently and be silent so that you may have mercy.[7:204]
Then when you recite Quran, ask refuge of Allah from the devil (Satan) the rejected one.[16:98]
Allah is the Highest, the True King, and hasten not with Quran until its revelation is completed to you, and submit,, ‘O my Lord increase me in the knowledge! [20:114]
Or make it a little more than that and recite Quran slowly and thoughtfully.[73:4]
‘O believers! ask not such things which if disclosed to you, may displease you; and if you will ask while the Quran is descending then they would be disclosed to you. Allah has already pardoned them. And Allah is Forgiving, Forbearing. [5:101]
So, when We have already recited it follow then it’s recital.[75:18]
Which Is The Best Time To Recite Quran?
Establish prayer from declining of the sun till the darkening of the night and the Quran of the dawn. No doubt, angles are present in the Quran of the dawn.[17:78]
For Whom Quran Is A Healing And Mercy?
And We send down in Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers; and it adds loss only to the unjust.[17:82]
For Whom Quran Is A Guide And A Healing?
And if We had made it a Quran in a foreign tongue, they surely would have said, Why not its verses have been made clear? What, a book in a foreign tongue and the Prophet Arabian. For Whom Quran Made Easy To Understand?
And verily, We made the Quran easy for remembering, is there than anyone to remember?[54:32]
And undoubtedly, We made the Quran easy for remembering is there than anyone to remember,[54:22]
What Is A Person Without Knowledge Of the Quran?
We relate to you the best narration, in that We revealed to you this Quran, though no doubt, you had no knowledge before. [12:3]
What Do People Say About Quran?
WHO does not believe in their meeting with ALLAH
And the infidels said, ‘listen not to this Quran and make absurd noise therein, haply you may overcome.[41:26]
And when Our clear signs are recited unto them, then those who hope not to meet Us begin to say, ‘bring a Quran other than this, or alter it. Say you, ‘it is not for me to change it on my own accord. I only follow, what is revealed to me if I disobey my Lord, then I fear the torment of the great Day.[10:15]
And the infidels said why the Quran was not sent down on them all at once. We have thus sent it down gradually that We may strengthen your heart therewith and We recited it with gradual recitation.[25:32]
And the infidels said, ‘We shall never believe, in this Quran and nor in those books which were before it.’ And if you could see when the unjust will be made to stand before their Lord; they shall cast back the word one against the other, those who were pressed will say to those who were swelled with pride, ‘if you had not been, we would surely have believed.’ [34:31]

Status Of Earlier Revelations In Islam
1. The Book: Allah’s Quran
[Quran – 2:2] “This is the Book; in it is guidance sure, without doubt, to those who fear God;”
2. Allah Informed mankind about the need for Allah’s Guidance
[Quran – 2:213] “All Mankind were once one single community; [then they began to differ -] whereupon God raised up the prophets as heralds of glad tidings and as warners, and through them bestowed revelation from on high, setting forth the truth”
3. Allah Informed mankind about His Revelations to His Messengers
[Quran – 35:32] “Then (after every Messenger), We have made those of Our servants whom We chose heirs to the Book (to preserve and teach it, and secure its practice in daily life)”
4. Allah Informed mankind about some of the recipients of His Book
[Quran – 2:136] “Say: “We believe in God, and in that which has been bestowed from on high upon us, and that which has been bestowed upon Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and, their descendants, and that which has been vouchsafed to Moses and Jesus; and that which has been vouchsafed to all the [other] prophets by their Sustainer: we make no distinction between any of them. And it is unto Him that we surrender ourselves.”
5. Allah Granted Moses (PBUH), The Book
[Quran – 2:53] “And remember when We granted Moses (while he was on Mount Sinai for forty nights) the Book and the Criterion to distinguish between truth and falsehood, and the knowledge, and power of judgment to put it into effect, that you might be guided to truth and abide by it.”
6. Prophet Moses’s Book was Torah (Taurat)
[Quran – 5:44] “Truly, We caused the Torah to descend wherein is guidance and light. The Prophets give judgment with it, those who submitted to God, for those who became Jews and the rabbis and learned Jewish scholars who committed to memory the Book of God and they had been witnesses to it. So dread not humanity, but dread Me. And exchange not My signs for a little price. And whoever gives not judgment by what God caused to descend, those, they are the ones who are ungrateful.”
7. Allah Gifted David (PBUH) with Psalms (Zabur)
[Quran – 17:55] “And it is your Lord that knoweth best all beings that are in the heavens and on earth: We did bestow on some prophets more (and other) gifts than on others: and We gave to David (the gift of) the Psalms.”
8. Allah Gifted Jesus (PBUH) with Gospel (Bible)
[Quran – 5:46] “And We sent following in their footsteps, Jesus son of Mary, one who establishes as true what was before him in the Torah. And We gave him the Gospel in which is guidance and light, and that which establishes as true what was before him in the Torah and a guidance and admonishment for the ones who are Godfearing.”
9. Allah’s Continuation of Revelation
[Quran – 2:87] “For, indeed, We vouchsafed unto Moses the divine writ and caused apostle after apostle to follow him; and We vouchsafed unto Jesus, the son of Mary, all evidence of the truth, and strengthened him with holy inspiration.”
10. Allah Confirmed The Truth of Earlier Revelations
[Quran – 2:101] “For, indeed, We vouchsafed unto Moses the divine writ and caused apostle after apostle to follow him; and We vouchsafed unto Jesus, the son of Mary, all evidence of the truth, and strengthened him with holy inspiration.”
11. Allah’s Command to followers of Earlier Revelations to Believe in Quran
[Quran – 2:41] “Believe in what I have revealed in the Qur’an which confirms the Divine source of your own Scriptures. Do not be the first who reject Qur’anic revelations. Do not trade away my revelations for small profits and be at awe with none but Me.”
Also:
[Quran – 21:7] “O people of the Book, believe in what We have revealed, which confirms what is already with you before We disfigure your visages and turn your faces about and curse you, as We did with those who had broken the Sabbath; and what God decrees comes to pass.”
12. Allah Commanded The Prophet (PBUH) to Refer to Earlier Revelations
[Quran – 16:43] “And [even] before thy time, [O Muhammad,] We never sent [as Our apostles] any but [mortal] men, whom We inspired: and if you have not [yet] realized this, ask the followers of [earlier] revelation,”
Also:
[Quran – 21:7] “The messengers We sent before you were but men whom We had sent revelations. Ask the People of the Book if you do not know this”
13. Allah Confirms, Falsification, Alteration, Distortion in Earlier Revelations
[Quran – 5:13] “Then, for having broken their solemn pledge, We rejected them and caused their hearts to harden-[so that now] they distort the meaning of the [re-vealed] words, taking them out of their context; and they have forgotten much of what they had been told to bear in mind, and from all but a few of them thou wilt always experience treachery. But pardon them, and forbear: verily, God loves the doers of good.”
[Quran – 11:110] “And, indeed, [similar was the case when] We vouchsafed the divine writ unto Moses, and some of his people set their own views against it; and had it not been for a decree that had already gone forth from thy Sustainer, judgment would indeed have been passed on them [then and there]: for, behold, they were in grave doubt, amounting to suspicion, about him [who called them unto God].”
14. Allah Has informed mankind thus:
“whatever there still remains of earlier revelations!”
[Quran – 34:31] “And [yet,] those who are bent on denying the truth do say, “We shall never believe in this Qur’an, and neither in whatever there still remains of earlier revelations!”

The Importance Of Prayer (SALAAT)
The importance of establishing Prayer has been mentioned in the Holy Quran and Hadith, on several occasions:
Allah the Supreme states in the Holy Quran: “And keep the Prayer established, and pay the charity, and bow your heads with those who bow (in Prayer).”(Surah Baqarah)
On another occasion, it is stated: “Guard all your Prayers and the middle Prayer; and stand with reverence before Allah.” (Surah Baqarah)
On yet another occasion, it is stated: “And keep the Prayer established at the two ends of the day and in some parts of the night.” (Surah Hud)
The “two ends of the day” mean the morning and evening. The time before noon is classified as morning and the time after it is classified as evening. The Morning Prayer is the Dawn (Fajr) prayer, and the Prayers of the evening are the Afternoon (Zohr) and the Evening (Asr) Prayers. The Prayers for the night are the Sunset (Maghrib) and the Night (Isha) Prayers. (Tafseer Khazain ul Irfan)
The Holy Quran classifies Prayer as an act that is opposite to the habits of polytheists. It states, “Inclining towards Him – and fear Him, and keep the Prayer established, and never be of the polytheists.” (Surah Ruum)
In other words, not offering the Prayer is to be like the polytheists. This is further confirmed by the words of the Holy Prophet “The entity that lies between a bondman and disbelief, is the abandonment of Prayer.” (Saheeh Muslim)
The Holy Quran warns those who abandon Prayer, in the following words: “And after them came the unworthy successors who squandered Prayer and pursued their own desires, so they will soon encounter the forest of Gai in hell.” (Surah Maryam)
‘Gai’ is a well in the lowest part of hell, which accumulates the pus of its inhabitants. It is also mentioned that ‘Gai’ is the hottest and deepest part of hell. This is the well that Allah opens up whenever the heat of hell lessens, causing the fire of hell to rage again. This well is the destination of those who abandon Prayer and adulterers, drunkards, usurers, and those who hurt their parents.
The Holy Quran has mentioned a trait of the hypocrites, that they are lazy in offering Prayers, and that they deem it to be a burden. It, therefore, states: “Undoubtedly the hypocrites, in their fancy, seek to deceive Allah whereas He will extinguish them while making them oblivious; and when they stand up for Prayer, they do it unwillingly and for others to see, and they do not remember Allah except a little.”(Surah Nisaa)
The Holy Prophet has said the following about the hypocrites: “The most burdensome prayers for the hypocrites are the Night Prayer and the Dawn Prayer. If they were to know the blessings they have in store, they would have come to them, even slithering.” (Saheeh Bukhari and Saheeh Muslim)
The Holy Quran also explains that offering the Prayer is not at all a burden for those who believe in Allah and the Last Day. It says: “And seek help in patience and prayer; and truly it is hard except for those who prostrate before Me with sincerity – Who know that they have to meet their Lord and that it is to Him they are to return.” (Surah Baqarah)
We, therefore, know from the Holy Quran, and from the Hadith, that it is obligatory for all Muslims to offer Prayers 5 times daily. To be lazy in Prayer, and especially not to offer the Night and Dawn Prayers, are the traits of hypocrites. We also know that not offering Prayer is the way of the disbelievers – this is why the Sahabah (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) did not deem the abandonment of any deed as disbelief, except the abandonment of Prayer.
The importance of Prayer can be gauged from the fact that it has been emphasized right from childhood. The Holy Prophet has said:”Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and beat them for it (Prayer) when they become ten years old; and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately.
