Islam is a comprehensive way of life covering every aspect of life from birth to death. It is a complete practical system in all its aspects, reflecting everyday affairs of human life. It is a religion of nature. It does not require anything from man, which is against his natural instincts. The fact that Islam is the religion of nature is stated in the words of Allah: ‘So set you (O Muhammad (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam)) your face towards the religion of Hanifan (worship none but Allah) Allah’s Fitrah (i.e., True man nature: Allah’s Islamic Monotheism), with which He has created mankind. No change let there be in Khalq-illah (i.e., the Religion of Allah), that is the straight religion, but most of men know not. (Surah Ar-Rum: .30)
TAG: Religion
Concept Of Religion And Mankind (Part 2)
Allah promises both groups, the Mu’minoon and Muhsinoon, Gardens of Bliss. They are promised the highest support that the righteous can attain: the assertion that Allah is with them. This is indicated in Allah’s words: “Truly, Allah is with those who fear Him (keep their duty unto Him) and those who are Muhsinun (good-doers).” (Surah An-Nahl: 128)
On the other hand, the wrongdoers are expected to face punishment in this world and in the Hereafter; their account is up to Allah. The wrongdoers cannot escape from the punishment of Allah. This is indicated in Allah’s words: ‘Say: “Tell me, if the punishment of Allah comes to you suddenly (during the night) or openly (during the day), will any be destroyed except the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoing people)?”‘ (9 Surat Al-Anam: 47)
Concept Of Religion And Mankind (Part 1)
All mankind descended from Adam (AS), and Adam has a position of honor with Allah. All mankind is created to worship Him and Him alone. Being slaves of Allah constitutes the essence of mankind. Man cannot therefore attain to his true humanity and acquire peace of mind unless he realizes this aim for which he was created. From the beginning, when Allah created the heavens and the earth as well as Jinns and human beings, he clarified the wisdom of this creation by saying: ‘And I (Allah) created not the Jinns and the men except they should worship Me (Alone)’. (Surat Adh Dhatyat: 56)
Then Allah illustrated that whoever follows this Guidance shall never fear nor shall grieve, and whoever disobeys His commands indeed will be astray. Thus, when the first human being to be created (Adam: AS)
Sharing Is The Noble Islamic Character
“O you who believe, when you are asked to make room in the meetings, then make room. Allah will make room for you (in Akhirah). And when it is said ‘move up’, then move on. Allah will raise in rank those of you who believe as well as those who are given knowledge. Allah knows whatever you do.” (Al Mujadilah, chap 58 – verse 11).
the religion of community, unity, being together, and helping one another towards righteousness and good deeds. Allah said, which means: “Verily all of mankind is in a state of loss except those who believe, do good deeds, and encourage one another.” (Al-’Asr 103:2-3).
Sharing is the Noble Islamic Character, so you live, sleep, and die with others, like a candle. A candle burns itself and produces light for others. We have to do something not only for our individual selves or families, but for the benefit of other Muslim families, the animals, the birds, and even for non-Muslims.
The Prophet Muhammad (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) said: “If the Hour were to occur and you had a seed or a small plant in your hand, (you would plant it) and if you can plant it before that, then plant it (now).”
Subhaanallaah!
Islam is a religion of work and sacrifice. This demonstrates that we are living to help others even if dying. You see the Judgment, the Hour is in front of you, so why not put the seed in the ground? Let someone else benefit if this is the last moment of your life, because you not only live for yourself, but to help others as well.
Allah narrates in the Qur’an the story of Prophet Lut(AS) and how He saved him and his family. But from what?! So the environment is very important. You may know about science and chemistry more than I, and we all know the surroundings of an object will have some impact upon it. Just as a candle’s flame will extinguish from a lack of oxygen, and likewise, a plant unexposed to sunlight will wither. The Prophet (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam) has explained: “The similitude of good and bad company is like the one who sells perfume and the blacksmith. When you sit with the perfume seller, you smell a good scent, and in contrast, bad company is like one who blows into a furnace.” (Al-Bukhari)
Being Sad Is Not Encouraged In Our Religion
So do not become weak [against] your enemy, nor be sad… (Quran 3: 139)
And grieve not over them, and be not distressed because of what they plot. (Quran 16: 127)
Be not sad, surely Allah is with us. (Quran 9: 40)
Referring to true believers, Allah informs us that: Upon such shall come no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Quran 2: 38)
Sadness enervates the souls will to act and paralyzes the body into inactivity. Sadness prevents one from action instead of compelling one towards it. The heart benefits nothing through grief; the most beloved thing to the Devil is to make the worshiper sad in order to prevent him from continuing on his path. Allah, the Exalted, says: *Secret counsels [conspiracies] are only from Shaitan [Satan], in order that he may cause grief to the believers. (Quran 58: 10)
In the following hadith, the Prophet (PBUH) said: “In a company of three, it is forbidden for two to hold secret counsel to the exclusion of the third, since doing so will be a cause of sadness for him.”
Contrary to what some believe (those who have an extreme ascetic bent), the believer should not seek out sadness, because sadness is a harmful condition that afflicts the soul. The Muslim must repel sadness and fight it in any way that is permissible in our Religion.
There is no real benefit to sadness; the Prophet (PBUH) sought refuge from it in the following supplication: “O Allah, I seek refuge in you from anxiety and grief.”
Grief is coupled with anxiety in this hadith. The difference between the two is that if a bad feeling is related to what is going to happen in the future. Then one is feeling anxiety. And if the cause of this feeling concerns the past, then one is feeling grief both weakens the heart, causing inactivity and a decrease in will power.
Despite what has been mentioned above, grief may sometimes be both inevitable and necessary. When they enter Paradise, its dwellers will say: All the praises and thanks be to Allah, Who has removed from us [all] grief. (Quran 35: 34)
This verse implies that they were afflicted with grief in this life, just as they were afflicted with other forms of hardship, both of which were out of their control. So whenever one is overcome by grief and there is no way to avoid it, one is rewarded, because grief is a form of hardship, and the believer is rewarded for going through hardship. Nonetheless, the believer must ward off grief with supplication and other practical means.
“Whatever befalls the believer in terms of anxiety, hardship, or grief, Allah will remove his sin.”
It indicates that grief is a trial with which the believer is afflicted, and through which some of his sins are atoned for. However, it does not indicate that grief is something to be sought after; the believer should not seek out means of finding grief, thinking that he is performing an act of worship.
And as for the alleged hadith, “Verily, Allah loves all sad hearts,” the chain of its narrators is unknown, so it is not an authentic hadith, especially in view of the fact that the basic principles of our religion are contrary to it.
In this verse, Allah says of his Prophet Israaeel (Israel): And he lost his sight because of the sorrow that he was suppressing. (Quran 12: 84)
Here we are informed of his grief over losing his beloved son. Simply informing about something does not in itself signify either approval or disapproval of that thing. The fact is that we have been ordered to seek refuge from sadness, as it is a heavy cloud that hangs above its victim, and is a barrier that prevents one from advancing to higher aims.
There is no doubt that sadness is a trial and a hardship, and is in some ways similar to sickness. However, it is not a stage, level, or condition that the pious should actively seek out.
I Discovered The Right Religion In Islam
HUDA, Nadia, and Selvi—all converts to Islam—stood outside the Taipei Grand Mosque in Taiwan after a noon prayer service and said their faith had given them strength. A list of questions brought Huda to the Taipei Grand Mosque: “Why can’t they eat pork? Why must women cover up? And why, if men can take four wives, can’t women take four husbands?”
After enrolling in a six-week course on the fundamentals of Islam, she found her answers, and she found religion. “When I first heard about the course, I told myself, ‘This is your time to learn something new.’ I discovered how to live according to the Qur’an, and now I feel very peaceful,” she said.
While stories of suicide attacks and beheading permeate news coverage from Afghanistan and the Middle East, Taipei Grand Mosque Imam Ma Shiao-chi said the number of people visiting the mosque with questions about Islam had increased.
“The news always highlights the bad things. About 90 percent of the news is negative. They hear stories about people getting their heads cut off and think Islam is a bad religion. They know very few things about Islam. They want to know what makes people do these things,” he said.
Their reasons for converting to Islam vary, but these women are finding freedom in Islam.
He said most of those going to the mosque are women. Whether they were born into a non-practicing Muslim family, converted for marriage, or, like Huda, are simply curious to learn more about the religion, the women Ma meets want to better understand the role of women in Islam. Perhaps they have no intentions of converting, Ma said, but at least they take the time to dispel a few stereotypes about the religion.
Some, however, do convert. As a teenager, Sana researched various religions and recalls visiting several temples, but it was Islam that appealed most to her. “So many things led me to feel Islam was the right religion. Even, when I was a child, I never liked to eat pork,” she said.
After living in Pakistan with her husband and children for eight years, Sana said she is now re-adjusting to being part of a minority religion in Taiwan. Taiwan has an estimated 130,000 Muslims, less than half of whom are Chinese Muslims.
“I am Chinese, and I am Muslim,” said Sana, giving the example of wearing a white headscarf, a color often associated with death in Taiwan.
Sana and Huda describe wearing the hijab as an honor and affirmation of their faith. They agreed, however, that while its purpose is to prevent unwanted attention to their bodies, it in fact often draws more attention. This they said is part of learning to live in a non-Muslim society.
Likewise, Huda, who works in an international trading company, was originally told she could not wear her hijab to work, as it might make clients uncomfortable. “Eventually my colleagues and boss accepted it. It took time, but they know being Muslim is an important part of my life,” she said.
While he criticized the unfair portrayal of Islam in the media, Ma said Muslim practitioners in Taiwan experience little harassment from the public. One reason, he said, might have to do with the small number of followers. “We are very few, so we are not really a risk to them,” he said.
The majority of Chinese practicing Islam are second and third-generation Muslims, whose families came to Taiwan with the Chinese Nationalist Party (KMT) in 1949. As years passed, people started to relax their religious compliance, Ma said.
“A lot of Muslims in Taiwan were born Muslims, but not all of them pray every day. But Islam is a lifestyle. You need to do the Muslim practices [the Five Pillars of Islam] or else it is easy to lose the religion,” he said.
Nadia was born into a non-practicing Chinese-Muslim household. Following in her sister’s footsteps, she made the transition to a more pious observance during college. As she learned more about the religion, she began to dress more conservatively, covering all but her face and hands. “It was just an outfit on the outside, but it changed my life on the inside. I felt more confident,” she said.
In addition to Muslims rediscovering their lost faith, Ma said most women embracing Islam in Taiwan do so for marriage. Of the 20 new converts last year, 12 were for marriage, he said.
According to the Qur’an, a Muslim man can marry a woman from a monotheistic religion (Christianity, Islam, and Judaism), but he is prohibited from marrying a woman from a polytheistic religion (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism, etc.).
Marriage is how Aisha entered Islam 20 years ago. “In the beginning, it was just for marriage. I could accept that there is only one god and not eat pork. I couldn’t wear the hijab,” she said. A decade later she started reading the Qur’an, attending classes, and wearing the headscarf, and feels her relationship with her husband is better for it. “Now we have the same way of looking at things. I can communicate better with my husband,” she said.
Each of the women said Islam places a large emphasis on respect and equality for women. One of the most debated gender issues in the Qur’an is the tradition that allows Muslim men to take four wives. – The News

O Womenfolk! Give Charity And Ask Much Forgiveness
[Sahih Muslim: Book 1 Kitab Al-Iman, Number 142]
It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah Bin. Umar (Radi Allah Anhu) the Messenger of Allah (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) observed: O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness, for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady amongst them said: Why is it, Messenger of Allah (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam), that our folk are in bulk in Hell? Upon this, the Holy Prophet (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam) observed: You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise, besides you. Upon this, the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and religion? He (the Holy Prophet (sal-allahu-alleihi-wasallam)) observed: Your lack of common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women is equal to one man, that is proof of the lack of common sense, and you spend some nights (and days) in which you do not offer prayer and in the month of Ramadan (during the days) you do not observe fast, that is a failing in religion.

[Bukhari 1/38]
3) Narrated Al−Mughira(RA): The Prophet (PBUH) said, “Allah has forbidden you
(1) to be undutiful to your mothers

I Am Pleased With Allah As Lord, Islam As Religion, Muhammad As Prophet
Sunan of Abu-DawoodHadith 5054 Narrated by A man
Abu Sallam said that he was in the mosque of Hims. A man passed him and the people said about him that he served the Prophet (peace be upon him). He (Abu Sallam) went to him and said: Tell me any tradition which you heard from the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) and there was no man between him and you. He said: I heard the Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) say: If anyone says in the morning and in the evening: “I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, with Muhammad as Prophet,” Allah will certainly please him.
pleased with their striving,- (Chapter #88, Verse #9)
Thy Guardian-Lord hath not forsaken thee, nor is He displeased. (Chapter #93, Verse #3)
And soon will thy Guardian-Lord give thee (that wherewith) thou shalt be well-pleased. (Chapter #93, Verse #5)
If ye reject (Allah), Truly Allah hath no need of you; but He liketh not ingratitude from His servants: if ye are grateful, He is pleased with you. No bearer of burdens can bear the burden of another. In the end, to your Lord is your Return, when He will tell you the truth of all that ye did (in this life). for He knoweth well all that is in (men’s) hearts. (Chapter #39, Verse #7)
The vanguard (of Islam)- the first of those who forsook (their homes) and of those who gave them aid, and (also) those who follow them in (all) good deeds,- well-pleased is Allah with them, as are they with Him: for them hath He prepared gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein for ever: that is the supreme felicity. (Chapter #9, Verse #100)
Their reward is with Allah. Gardens of Eternity, beneath which rivers flow; they will dwell therein forever; Allah well pleased with them, and they with Him: all this for such as fear their Lord and Cherisher. (Chapter #98, Verse #8)
Religion Of Ibrahim Alaihi Salaam
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 124] And when his Lord tried Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) with certain words, he fulfilled them. He said: Surely I will make you an Imam of men. Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) said: And of my offspring? My covenant does not include the unjust, said He.
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 125] And when We made the House a pilgrimage for men and a (place of) security, and: Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibrahim (alaihi salaam). [2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 126] And when Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) said: My Lord, make it a secure town and provide its people with fruits, such of them as believe in Allah and the last day. [2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 127] And when Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) and Ismail (alaihi salaam) raised the foundations of the House: Our Lord! accept from us; surely Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing.

[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 129] Our Lord! and raise up in them an Apostle from among them who shall recite to them Thy communications and teach them the Book and the wisdom, and purify them; surely Thou art the Mighty, the Wise.
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 130] And who forsakes the religion of Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) but he who makes himself a fool, and most certainly We chose him in this world, and in the hereafter he is most surely among the righteous.
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 131] When his Lord said to him, Be a Muslim, he said: I submit myself to the Lord of the worlds.
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 132] And the same did Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) enjoinon his sons and (so did) Yaqoub (alaihisalaam). O my sons! surely Allah has chosen for you (this) faith, therefore die not unless you are Muslims.
[2. Surah Al-Baqarah: Ayah 133] Nay! were you witnesses when death visited Yaqoub (alaihi salaam) when he said to his sons: What will you serve after me? They said: We will serve your God and the God of your fathers, Ibrahim (alaihi salaam) and Ismail (alaihi salaam) and Ishaq (alaihi salaam), one God only, and to Him do we submit.
