The Excellence Of Durood Shareef As Explained In The Ahadeeth
“Hadith” is an Arabic word which means “Holy Sayings”. It is the narration of all the affectionate words of advice uttered by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Salim) from time to time. These sayings (Ahadith) are instructions offered for the guidance of mankind, and to follow them is as important as daily prayers.
The famous books of Hadith are the following: Sahih Bukhari, Sahih Muslim, Tirmidhi, Abu Dawud, Muwatta, Nisaai’, Ibn-Majah, Darmi, Baihaqi and Miskhaat Shareef.
Imam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu), the compiler of Bukhari Shareef, took the greatest and painstaking precautions in making his collections of Ahadith and exerted to his utmost to achieve all accuracy and reliability possible. Hence, Ahadith quoted by Imam Bukhari (radi Allahu anhu) and his work on Ahadith stands as one of the wonders of intellectual achievement in Islamic History. He wrote all Ahadith in the sacred Haram of Madina Munawwarah. It is, therefore, that most of the Ahadith have been taken from the book of Bukhari Shareef.
Important Ahadith of the Holy Prophet (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Salim) have been included here for the betterment, benefit guidance and gain of the readers of this book. If followed, the reader of these sayings will receive a permit to Paradise even in this world. Every saying opens door to Divine favour and sure success.
1. For every Durood Shareef that you recite, ten sins are forgiven, ten good deeds are entered into your sheet of actions and ten positions are upgraded.
2. Allah showers ten blessings on the man who recites a Durood.
3. The first man who will meet the Prophet (Sall Allahu alaihi wa Salim) on the Day of Judgement will be that person who had recited the Durood a maximum number of times in his lifetime.
Best Deed
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam ‘ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu
Narrated by Abu Dhar (Radhiallaho anho):
I asked Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) , “What is the best deed?” He replied, “To believe in Allah and to fight for His cause.” I then asked, “What is the best kind of manumission (of
slaves)?” He replied, “The manumission of the most expensive slave and the most beloved by his master.” I said, “If I cannot afford to do that?” He said, “Help the weak or do good for a person who cannot work for himself.” I said, “If I cannot do that?” He said, “Refrain from harming others for this will be regarded as a charitable deed for your own good.”

Understanding The Holy Message – Surah: Ad-Dukhan
Surah No 44: Ad-Dukhan
Number of Ayats: Fifty-nine
Meaning of the name: It takes its name from Ayat no 10 where the word Ad-Dukhan has been mentioned which means “smoke”
Summary: This is a Makki surah. It begins with stating in Ayat no 3 that the Holy Quran was sent down on a blessed night. The Quraish have mainly been addressed in the surah as their hostility was increasing towards Islam. Therefore the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) prayed to Allah to send famine which might change the attitude of the people of Makkah. There was a slight change, as some Quraish Chiefs then came to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) asking him to pray to Allah to relieve them of this calamity. This was the occasion that the surah was revealed, however, Allah had told the Prophet (PBUH) that these people cannot learn from a mere calamity, as they have turned away from his teachings, and also they lie if they say that they will believe when they have been saved from the terrible ordeal.
Reference is given to the people of Pharaoh, who refused to accept the signs such as their prosperous land of Canaan, their thriving Kingdom under David and Solomon, and the teachings of the prophets that were so clearly shown by Allah and when they conspired to kill Hazrat Moosa (AS) they met their end.
It is stated that we must realize that worldly status cannot help oneself or anyone else on the Day of Judgment, it is only Allah’s mercy that can.
A Muslim Should Not Oppress Another Muslim
Bismillah Walhamdulillah Was Salaatu Was Salaam ‘ala Rasulillah
As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu
Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (Radhiallaho anho):
Allah’s Messenger (sallallaahu ‘alaihi wasallam) said, “A Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a
Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection. ”
Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3 : No. 622
Understanding Surah Az-Zariyat
Surah No 51: Az-Zariyat
Number of Ayats: Sixty
Meaning of the name: It takes its name from ayat no 1 meaning the “winds that scatter”.
Summary: This is a Makki surah. In the beginning, the characteristics of the winds are given which are: a) they produce changes in the pressure and temperature of the air which revolutionizes animal and vegetable life, b) they carry seeds and sow them in different places, similarly, they carry the clouds from place to place, c) they fill the sails of ships so that they may reach their destinations, d) they distribute moisture and rain at different places. This is a natural phenomenon that takes place at Allah’s command. Revelation is similar to the wind in many aspects, for it also brings about great changes. In addition, it distributes its blessings wherever it goes, and its effects are far and reaching.
Then the characteristics of good people are mentioned for they are those who sleep little and spend a portion of the night in worship, for they prefer to serve Allah and His beings than the Self. These people pray for forgiveness of all sins committed and those not yet committed. They also pray for whom they care for. These people also give charity to the needy and especially those who are in need yet cannot ask due to various reasons. We must realize that charity in the higher sense includes all help, from the one more able to the one who is not. Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH) said “Every day two angels come down from heaven and one of them says, ‘O Allah! Compensate every person who spends in Your Cause,” and the other angels say, ‘O Allah! Destroy every miser’
The surah ends on the admonition that every nation that acted as its antecedent will suffer a similar fate. Those who have acquired evil ways will not only get their punishment in the Hereafter but in this life as well.
Dreams According To Islamic Point Of View
Dreams are broken into three parts according to the Sunnah:
Ru’yaa – good visions (dreams)
Hulum – bad dreams
Dreams from one’s self
Abu Hurayrah narrated Muhammad (S) said, “There are three types of dreams: a righteous dream which is glad tidings from Allah, the dream which causes sadness is from Shaitan and a dream
from the ramblings of the mind. (Muslim)
True/Good Dreams
We can see true dreams are from Allah Ta’ala as Muhammad (S) said, “True dreams are from Allah and bad dreams are from Satan” (Bukhari).
True believers are more likely to happen to those who are truthful in their lives as Muhammad (SAW) said, “Those of you with the truest dreams will be those who are most truthful in speech”
(Muslim) .
Good dreams are also from Allah Ta’aala. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said, “If anyone of you has a dream that he likes then it is from Allah. He should thank Allah for it and narrate it to
others.” (Bukhari) Good deeds consist of people doing Halaal (lawful) acts.
One should share their dreams with those they like as Muhammad (SAW) said, “If one sees a good dream, let him expect good, and not tell it except to those he likes.” (Muslim) An example of this is Yaqoob (AS) telling his son, Yusuf (AS) concerning his dream about eleven stars and the sun and the moon prostrating to him (scholars have said the eleven stars were his brothers, and the sun and the moon represented his mother and father): “He said, “O my son! Relate not your vision to your brothers lest they arrange a plot against you. Verily! Satan is to man an open enemy.” (Surah Yusuf 12:5) We know the half-brothers of Yusuf were jealous of him, to begin with so telling them the dream would probably only serve to increase the jealousy.
Muhammad (s.a.w) also told us, “Nothing is left of prophethood except glad tidings.” Those with him asked, “What are glad tidings?” He (S) replied, “Good dreams.” (Bukhari).
Bad Dreams
As stated above bad dreams are from Satan Muhammad (s.a.w) told us what to do upon seeing a bad dream. “So when one of you sees a dream which he does not like, he should spit on his left side
three times, seek refuge with Allah from Satan thrice, and change the side which he was lying (Muslim) and in another narration in Muslim, Muhammad (S) told us if we spit three times and seek refuge from Allah then it (the dream) will not harm them.” (Muslim).
Muhammad (s.a.w) also told us that if we saw a bad dream to “stand up and offer prayer.” (Muslim).
Bad Dreams Should Not Be Disclosed
Muhammad (s.a.w) said, …If he has a dream that he dislikes, then it is from Satan He should seek refuge with Allah from its evil, and he SHOULD NOT MENTION IT TO ANYBODY, then it will not harm him.” (Bukhari) If one does tell somebody about the bad dream then there could be the chance that some harm will come out of it.
Dreams from One’s Self
These dreams come from one’s thoughts and are neither from Allah nor Satan
Lying About Dreams
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said, “Indeed the worst of lies is that of a person who falsely claims to have a dream.” (Bukhari) also ‘Whoever claims to have a dream that he did not have, will be ordered
to tie two barley grains together, which he will never be able to do; and if somebody eavesdrop on some people’s conversation which they didn’t want him to hear or they tried to keep away from him, then molten lead will be poured into his ears on the Day of Resurrection; and whosoever makes a picture (of a being with a soul) will be punished on the Day of Resurrection and (will) be ordered to put a soul in it, which he will not be able to do.” (Bukhari)

A New Year Gained Or A New Year Lost?
Praise be to Allah, we seek His help and His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evil of our own souls and from our bad deeds. Whomsoever Allaah guides will never be led astray, and whomsoever Allaah leaves astray, no one can guide. I bear witness that there is no god but Allaah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and Messenger.

A New Year Gained or a New Year Lost?
by Asma bint Shameem
Before we knew it, last year passed by like a flash and the new year is here…whether it is 2010 CE or 1431 of the Hijri Calendar.
For some people, the beginning of the new year is marked by exciting countdowns, popping of firecrackers, partying till the wee hours of the morning, and dancing.
And for some, it is a time for somber thoughtfulness and self-accountability.
Instead of celebrating, they are worried and scared.
Instead of partying, they think and reflect.
Their hearts tremble and their skins shiver.
Because each year that passes means a year LESS from their lifetime…..
Each year that passes by is bringing them closer to their death…
Because, they know that with each passing year….each passing month….each passing day…..and each passing second…they are that much closer to that inevitable event when they meet their end, that much closer to their meeting with their Lord when they will have to stand in front of Him and answer regarding all that they did.
They are aware that whatever time has passed will never come back.
They know that if they did not make the most of their time, and if they did not use their time wisely, in the obedience of Allaah, then surely, they are the losers.
That is because the Prophet (sal Allaahu Alaiyhi wa sallam) said:
“On the Day of Resurrection, the feet of the son of Adam (man) will not move till he is questioned about four things: how he spent his lifetime, how he spent his youth, from where he acquired his wealth, and how he spent it, and what he did with his knowledge.” (Tirmidhi)
So they take account of themselves and their deeds at the end of a year….and at the end of a month…..and at the end of a day. They are not heedless of the passage of time or day. They are conscious of every second of their lives and how important it is to spend it usefully.
You see, your life is like the pages of a calendar. As the months go by, you flip its pages, never to flip the pages back. Those months that have passed will never come back.
Similarly, as the days and weeks, and months of your life go by, they too, will never come back.
What is gone, is gone.
That is why the righteous Salaf were so careful about their time and how they spent it. They made sure that no time, however, short it was, passed without doing something useful, like acquiring useful knowledge, doing good deeds, helping others, or advising the Ummah.
Describing the Salaf’s care for time, Hasan al-Basri said: “I saw those people and how they were more careful about their time than about their Dirhams and Dinars (meaning, their money).
Regarding Imaam Hammad ibn Salamah, someone said: “It is unbelievable! I have never seen Hammad laugh at all. He was always busy explaining hadeeth, praying, reading, or praising the Lord. This is how he spent his day.” And:” If you were to tell Hammad, You are going to die tomorrow, there would be nothing he could add to what he is already doing.”
Subhaan Allaah! What consciousness of the value of time!
