The Prophet’s Morals
Allah gifted His Messenger (peace be upon him) with all sublime morals. In this context, Almighty Allah says: And verily, you (O Muhammad) are on an exalted (standard of) character (68:4).
On his part, the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “I was sent (by Allah) to perfect the sublime morals.”
`A’ishah (Allah be pleased with her) described the Prophet (peace be upon him), saying, “His morals were the morals of the Qur’an.”
He (peace be upon him) had the best morals among people. He used to say, “O Lord! As You have beautified my image, so beautify my morals.” Furthermore, he used to supplicate to Allah, saying, “O Lord! I seek refuge in You from miserliness, hypocrisy, and bad morals.”
Following are some of his characteristics:
Almighty Allah guided the Prophet (peace be upon him) to abide by these morals saying: Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the foolish [i.e. don’t punish them. (Al-A`raf 7: 199). Whenever he (peace be upon him) was given the opportunity to choose between two affairs, he always chose the easier as long as it was not sinful.
He (peace be upon him) never avenged himself, but if Allah’s laws were violated he would enforce them. The people of Makkah tortured him but he said, “O Allah! Guide my people since they do not know!” It is well known that the more the ignorant people used to abuse the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), the more the latter met their insults with tolerance and pardon. Once a man said to him, “Load my two she-camels with the property you have, for it is not yours, nor your father’s, but it is Allah’s.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) kept silent, then said: Surely, the property belongs to Allah and I am His servant.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) was the most generous of people, particularly in Ramadan. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would never deny anything he was asked for. Furthermore, he (peace be upon him) said, “I do not like to possess (what equals the mount of) Uhud of gold and that three days expire while I still have (even) a dinar (without spending it in the cause of Allah) except something I save for my religion.”

Prophet Musa: An Excellent Role Model
If you study the Glorious Qur’an with in-depth reflection, you’ll be struck by how often Allah mentions Prophet Musa (peace be upon him) in the Book, in one context or other. From his infancy to adulthood, to his family and communal life, Allah mentions him a total of 169 times in the Qur’an!
Let’s look at the qualities this Prophet of Allah had that endeared him so much to Allah that He chose him, spoke to him (in fact had conversations with him), and made him a mighty messenger.
“And mention in the Book (this Qur’an), Musa; Verily! He was chosen and he was a Messenger (and) a Prophet.” (Qur’an, 19:51)
Hastening to obey Allah
When Allah called Musa to a meeting on Mount Tur, he arrived earlier than the appointed time. The reason: to please Allah!
“…I hastened to You, O my Lord, that You might be pleased.” (Qur’an, 20:84)
Quick in turning to Allah
Once a man from the slave-tribe of Bani Israel called out for help as a Coptic (Pharaoh’s tribesman) wrangled with him in the street. Musa (peace be upon him) rushed to defend him, accidentally killing the oppressive Coptic with an unintentional hard blow to the chest. As soon as he saw what he’d done, Musa repented, sought forgiveness and vowed future good conduct:
“He said: ‘My Lord! Verily, I have wronged myself, so forgive me.’
Then He forgave him. Verily, He is the Oft-Forgiving, the Most Merciful.
He said: ‘My Lord! For that with which You have favored me, I will never more be a helper for the Mujrimun (criminals)!’” (Qur’an, 28:16-17)
Upon receiving the news of his eventual persecution by the Copts for this murder, he once again turned to Allah in earnest supplication, appealing for Divine deliverance and guidance, as he prepared to flee the town in secret.
“So he escaped from there; fearful, vigilant. He said: ‘My Lord! Save me from the people who are wrong-doers!’
And when he went towards (the land of) Midian, he said: ‘Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the Right Way.’” (Qur’an, 28:21-22)
Helping the weak
Prophet Musa’s shining quality to help the weak again comes forth when he enters a new town, escaping Pharaoh’s men, and spotting two girls in a plight:
“And when he arrived at the water of Madyan (Midian) he found there a group of men watering (their flocks), and besides them he found two women who were keeping back (their flocks). He said: ‘What is the matter with you?’ They said: ‘We cannot water (our flocks) until the shepherds take (their flocks). And our father is a very old man.’
So he watered (their flock) for them….” (Qur’an, 28:23-24)
Full trust in Allah
Homeless, jobless, and alone in a strange town, he helped two women chivalrously without expecting any favors in return, because he turned to his friend and patron Allah for assistance. He withdrew under a tree to sincerely call to His Lord for help.
“…then he turned back to shade, and said: ‘My Lord! Truly, I am in need of whatever good that You bestow on me!’” (Qur’an, 28:24)
At such a sincere display of pure trust, his Lord responded to his prayer immediately:
“Then there came to him one of the two women, walking shyly. She said: ‘Verily, my father calls you that he may reward you for having watered (our flocks) for us.’ So when he came to him and narrated the story, he said: ‘Fear not! You have escaped from the wrongdoing people.’
One of the two women said: ‘O my father! Hire him! For the best (man) that you can hire is the strong, the trustworthy.’
He said: ‘I intend to wed one of these two daughters of mine to you, on condition that you serve me for eight years, but if you complete 10 years, it will be (a favor) from you. But I intend not to place you under a difficulty. If Allah will, you will find me one of the righteous.’” (Qur’an, 28:25-27)
In response to his earnest prayers, Allah gave him a long-lasting job, a considerate employer, accommodation, a chaste wife, and compassionate in-laws – all within the same day!
Prophet Musa’s conduct is a far cry from the attitudes of most Muslims today, who put their trust first in their contacts, references and networking tools to get jobs or marriage proposals. Only when all other tangible avenues are exhausted do we weak-hearted believers turn to Allah in prayer. We ask others for help, shelter, food or money before turning to Him, the Creator, Sustainer, and the Source of all provision.
Reward Of Charity
Narrated Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him): Allah s Apostle (peace be upon him) said, Whoever gives two kinds (of things or property) in charity for Allah s Cause, will be called from the gates of Paradise and will be addressed: O slaves of Allah! Here is prosperity. So, whoever was amongst the people who used to offer their prayers, will be called from the gate of the prayer; and whoever was amongst the people who used to participate in Jihad, will be called from the gate of Jihad; and whoever was amongst those who used to observe fasts, will be called from the gate of Ar-Raiyan; whoever was amongst those who used to give in charity, will be called from the gate of charity. Abu Bakr said, Let my parents be sacrificed for your sake, O Allah s Apostle! No distress or need will befall him who will be called from those gates. Will there be any one who will be called from all these gates? The Prophet replied, Yes, and I hope you will be one of them.

Some Common Mistakes In Ramadhan
Taking Ramadhan as a ritual
For many of us Ramadan has lost its spirituality and has become more of a ritual ( Stereotyped behavior) than a form of Ibadah. We fast from morning to night like a zombie (living dead) just because everyone around us is fasting too. We forget that its a time to purify our hearts and our souls from all evil. We forget to make Dua, forget to beseech Allah to forgive us and ask Him to save us from the Fire. Sure we stay away from food and drink but that’s about all ?
Too much stress on food and drink
For some people, the entire month of Ramadan revolves around food. They spend the ENTIRE day planning, cooking, shopping and thinking about only food, instead of concentrating on Salah, Quran and other acts of worship. All they can think of is FOOD so much so that they turn the month of ‘fasting’ into the month of ‘feasting’.
Spending all day cooking
Some of the sisters (either by their own choice or forced by their husbands) are cooking ALL day and ALL night, so that by the end of the day, they are too tired to even pray Ishaa, let alone pray Taraweeh or Tahajjud or even read Quran. This is the month of mercy and forgiveness. So turn off that stove and turn on your Iman!
Practical Tips In Preparation For Ramadan
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.
Allah Almighty says, “The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind, and clear proofs of the guidance, and the Criterion (of right and wrong).)” (Al-Baqarah 2: 185)
Every Muslim should prepare himself to welcome the blessed month of Ramadan by strengthening his relationship with the Qur’an, busing himself with the spirit of fasting, and recharging his spiritual battery to prepare himself to make the whole blessed month of Ramadan a real occasion of sincere obedience.
Ramadan is an event that occurs in the life of the faithful, as individuals and as an Ummah, once a year. It is intended by Allah to help us to recharge our spiritual batteries and thus prepare us for the great mission of realizing His will on earth. Therefore, in order to benefit from Ramadan, we may do well to prepare for it by opening our hearts and minds to embrace it. Let me offer a few tips:
1. We should empower ourselves by learning as much as we can about the precise laws as well as the benefits of fasting.
2. We should ensure that we gain true benefits from our fasting, let us make sure to realize the spirit of fasting: this can only be done by abstaining, not only from food, drink, and sex, but also by strictly restraining our minds, hearts as well as our eyes, ears, hands, tongue, and so on.
3.We must embrace the spirit of fasting as stressed in Hadith: to be charitable and compassionate as much as we can.
4. We should strengthen our relationship with the Qur’an; for Ramadan is the month of the Qur’an.
5. We should engage in dhikr and condition ourselves to make it second nature.
6. Last but not least, we should build up our community through acts of charity and compassion and extending help to those in need as much as we can.
Let us pray that we come out of Ramadan with our faith recharged, gaining strength in our faith and commitment and relationship with Allah.
OH ALLAH! Make useful for me what You taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me!

If anyone withdraws himself from remembrance of ((Allah)) Most Gracious, We appoint for him an evil one, to be an intimate companion to him.

And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah . Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing.

Indeed, those who fear Allah – when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight.

Satan promises them and arouses desire in them. But Satan does not promise them except delusion.

And [also] those who spend of their wealth to be seen by the people and believe not in Allah nor in the Last Day. And he to whom Satan is a companion – then evil is he as a companion.
The Worst Evil Deeds Of Those Who Will Remain Forever In Hell
The Qur’an speaks at length of the evil deeds for which those who will abide in the Hell forever deserve their never-ending fate. Here we will mention the most serious of them.
(1) Kufr and Shirk: Allah (swt) tells us that it will be said to those who disbelieved, when they are in the Fire, that Allah’s hatred of them will be greater than their own hatred towards themselves because of their disbelief. Then He explains that their eternal fate in Hell is because of their kufr and shirk:
“The unbelievers will be addressed: “Greater was the aversion of Allah to you than [is] your aversion to yourselves, seeing that you were called to the Faith but you used to refuse. They will say, “Our Rabb! Twice have You made us without life, and twice have You given us life! Now have we recognized our sins: is there any way out [of this]?” [The answer will be]: “This is because, when Allah was invoked as the Only [object of worship] you did reject Faith, but when partners were joined to Him, you believed! The Command is only with Allah, All-High, All-Great!” (40:10-12)
Allah (swt) tells us that the keeper of Hell will ask the kuffaar as they are approaching Hell:
“Did there not come to you your messengers with clear signs?” (40:50)
The response will be that they deserved Hell because they disbelieved in the Messengers and their Message:
“They will say, “Yes indeed; a Warner did come to us, but we rejected him” and said: “Allah never sent down any [Message] you are in nothing but a great error!” (67:9)
Concerning those who disbelieved in the Qur’an, Allah (swt) says:
“for We have sent you a Message from Our own presence. If any do turn away therefrom, verily they will bear a burden on the Day of Judgement. They will abide in this [state] and grievous will that burden be to them on that Day”. (20:99-101)
Communication Between Birds
And Sulaiman (Solomon) inherited (the knowledge of ) Dawud (David). He said: “O mankind! We have been taught the language of birds, and on us have been bestowed all things. This, verily, is an evident grace (from Allah).” (Qur’an, 27:16)
IN the above verse, it is said that the Prophet Solomon was taught the speech of birds in addition to the endowments that God’s grace had adorned him with. The Qur’an refers to the communication between birds and to the fact that the twittering and singing of birds has particular meanings. Birds, like human beings, do communicate. This undeniable communication is certainly not as developed as it is in man.
Research conducted by zoologists has established that sounds emitted by animals are meaningful and not haphazard. Birds, ants, dolphins, etc., have systems of communication.
Meanings in sounds emitted by birds
As the Qur’an speaks of the language of birds, let us take a look at research conducted on birds. Brazilian and American ornithologists have studied the hummingbird (one of the tiniest birds in the world) and published their findings in the British journal Nature. The author of the article, Maria Luisa Da Silva, says that the vocabulary of the hummingbird is not innate but develops afterward. In other words, the hummingbird learns to speak as human beings do.
Studies on crows have demonstrated that they emit a variety of sounds, namely, to call the colony of crows to come together, to express alarm, and to communicate a state of distress. Ornithologists, who have recorded these sounds using a sonograph, are still engaged in deciphering the meanings behind them. Bernd Heinrich, among these scientists who speak of the difficulty in decoding the sonograms, associates this research work with the work of the inhabitants of other planets visiting our earth and trying to decipher eating, playing, making love and activities like catching fish using a sonograph. What we are trying to do is to imagine ourselves in their place. Heinrich speaks of the difficulty encountered in deciphering the language of animals in general, as different species have different ways of communication, each calling for a different approach.
There is a body language, expressed by the changes in your body position and movements, that show what you are feeling or thinking. Nodding means “yes,” hailing is a sign of calling to someone in order to greet him or try to attract his attention. Although the sounds emitted by birds are a means of communication, they also have, in general, a body language. Their body language is easier to decipher. For instance, a bird that emits a sound by touching its beak with his tongue means “I am a friend, I have no intention to harm you.” Theresa Jordan gives a whole list of signs, demonstrating thereby that even the body language necessitates a glossary.
The physiology of birds is as interesting as their language, the long distances they cover without swerving from their destination are something to marvel at. Ornithologists studying birds will see God’s perfect artistry revealed in these creatures too.
There is not a moving (living) creature on earth, nor a bird that flies with its two wings, but are communities like you. We have neglected nothing in the Book, then unto their Lord they (all) shall be gathered. (Qur’an, 6:38)
